overseas packages to a PO box

Will post, & more specifically parcels & packages get more attention from customs if they're addressed to a PO box? If anyone knows specific to the UK that'd be great but more general comments are welcome.
Thanks

I don't know. I got a box from the UPS store but it doesn't say PO box in the address. For example a box could be 1332 Robinson Road, Suite 12-177.

I can't give you an answer on whether or not PO box addresses are more heavily scrutinized by customs, but I can tell you my success rate of delivery to my own box has been 100%.

A way to do it if you're really paranoid: Ship it to a non-existent address w/ UPS, screw up the zip code and/or street address. The name can either be yours or made up. This way, if customs seizes it, they won't know who ordered it unless they subpoena the electronic record (if there is one), which would be hard to do for an overseas shipper, especiall if the bank that handled the transaction is overseas as well. Even if they electronically trace it to your IP, it's not addressed to you so there's another legal dodge.
Then, when UPS tries to deliver it to the wrong address (follow it with the tracking number so you know) you can then call UPS, give them the tracking number, and you can tell them to change the delivery address. Note you can only change it AFTER they've tried to deliver it to the wrong address, so it will add a day or two to the shipping time.
So in a nutshell, ship it to a make-believe addy/person, and after it gets through customs and the UPS tracking system logs an error, call in and have it "fixed" and sent to you.
Though I don't know why a p.o. box would warrant much more interest than a regular addy in the first place unless they already have a reason to monitor the shipment specifically (i.e. from a known illegal vendor/trafficker) but this is just a method I though of off the top of my head given my knowledge of how UPS works.

This way, the police have proof that you know about the package. Brilliant.

You'll see in the tracking page if it gets held up at customs. The system will list a shipping "exception" and probably say that customs seized it. If that happens, forget you ever knew anything about it. If there is no exception (until the wrong address exception occurs that is), it's free an clear, through customs and anybody's supsicion, and you won't be troubled.

I've read too many stories in the newspaper about drug shipments being detected in UPS/FedEx/DHL packages and the cops posing as the delivery guy busting somebody... but hey, it's your freedom... if you think putting the wrong address on a package will save you jail time, go for it. Personally, I wouldn't take the risk. Remember, if they know the package contains drugs, and you call into asking about it, then they have proof that you knew the package was coming. You are making their job that much easier.

You'd have to be a fool to think they wouldn't continue to deliver a package if it has drugs. They don't intercept it and throw the drugs away, they allow you to take possession of them.
Adding a completely bunk address to the UPS system will be picked up at shipping time, not once it gets overseas; the box has a variety of tracking information on it that directly relates to the path it's taking at its destination.

Yeah, making it through customs is no assurance that law enforcement is unaware of it. I have personally seen this happen at one of the major shippers while employed for them. Among the dozens or hundreds of packages we smashed open or destroyed on a daily basis a large marijuana shipment was among them. That evening, shortly after it was discovered, the police were all ready in the building to repackage and ship it on towards the unwitting recipient.

Then stop buzzing. Drug use is illegal, and the majority of the populace is willing to donate resources to see you don't get away with it. If you're naive enough to try to ship large amounts of drugs via UPS, you deserve a bit of paranoia.
