well if you think it's not UTI, then start giving him more affection, make sure his litter box is clean, his food bowl is full, and his water supply clean and fresh.
Also, feed your cats high quality food. none of that $7 for 20lbs of meow mix... or worse yet, walmart brand 'special kitty'. those are like mcdonalds for cats. bad for them. I'm pretty sure he has SOMETHING going on with his urinary tract, so at least get like 'purina one' for UTI control. It's in like a metallic blue bag. purina one is excellent, but not as expensive as say science diet or 'prescription' food.
I have to get 'sensitve systems' for one of my cats who seems to have a nervous stomach and then the healthy urinary tract for my other cat. it's impossible to feed cats seperately so i just mix the two.
good luck
OH and be sure to soak your bed with 'nature's miracle' or something simular that has enzymes... you'll probably want to add nature's miracle to your laundry when you wash your sheets... or anything else he peed on

My cats get high quality food even when I cant afford food for myself and they always have someone to pet them. The only change I can do for the better is making sure that the litter box is cleaner(although it's already kept in a cleaner condition than that of anyone I've ever visited). But I might do a checkup at the vet anyhow just in case.

Nalim said: He's a one year old neutered male and it's not the first time. He has peed on things now and then his entire life but often with several months in between and often only small puddles. Now he's pissed outside the box twice in a week though. He first pissed on a pile of bed clothing and just now on my hellishly expensive bed This time he pissed a lot.
Any ides on why this might be. He's exclusively an indoors cat so I'm afraid that that might be the problem; he cant move around as he wants and expresses his stress this way, but he doesn't seem stressed. He runs around a bit each night but most of the time he's chilling and snuggling with me or my girl or playing with our other cat.
Might it be from urinary tract infection? Or is it strange that it's so far between the times?
is the litter box very close to the food dish? a cat will not shit/piss too close to his eating area.
is the box very dirty? is it very shallow / not a lot of litter?
is he not getting any stimulation? do you play or supply toys treats for him/her? is there a window he can look out of.
have you recently moved or added anew pet / roomate/bf/gf? stress can also make them go in places that are not their usual.
what ever you do DONT let your always indoors cat outside - he will probably be injured.
i suggest you clean our mattress with solutions specially made to get rid of cat urine ammonia - and look at the list i proved and see if you have one or more of these issues. if not take him to the vet. could be an infection.

No it's in the bathroom and it's always accessible.

As I said before: I empty it every day(sometimes every other day) and I change sand once every 10-14 days. So: no. I still think this can be the problem like I said before, he might dislike peeing in the same place as our other cat or he might have a strong distaste for the smell of pee. I will give him a box of his own.

Nope 8 liter of sand always. almost 1dm deep layer of sand.

Both me and my girl play with him a lot and he has a friend(a female cat) that he plays a lot with(they get along really well ).

Nope

If he'll be let outside it will be somewhere on the countryside so he doesn't risk being run over. This scenario is very unlikely though as we really want to keep him.

Thanks for the tip, will do.

I will probably do this just in case even if I think it is the sharing a sandbox that is the problem.
