Natural Insecticides
    #7383429 - 09/08/07 11:45 AM (16 years, 6 months ago)

So I found this Natural Insecticides...

I was thinking about making a tobacco and sulfur water infusion and putting it in a spray bottle to use...what do you guys think?

I would be used on stuff like cacti, kratom, vegetables, etc.

Does anybody know of any other good organic insecticides which I could make myself?

I have brugmanisa flowers, which I considered putting into the tobacco and sulfur infusion...but I know bees are not effected by solanaceae chemicals...hmmm...

Neem oil is another option...But I've heard bad things about it...Anybody ever used it?

You wont get the sulfate that way...
You could try extracting tobacco with water and then after straining add H2SO4. That should do the trick.

Just make sure to test the pH so it isn't too acidic.

So just a water infusion mixed with natural sulfur rock will not work?

I got to add H2SO4? What is that?

Sulfuric acid(battery acid)
sulfur is not equal to sulfate and it is not freely soluble in water, and it cannot form salts.

neem is good for things, tobacco kills most things.

before using datura/brugmansia think about this.
#1. it is topically active (that means if you touch it you get fucked).
#2. it is not a nice high, so you best be prepared for it when you are spraying that shit all over.
#3. like you said many bugs seem unharmed by it.. in fact i am having a huge caterpillar problem on mine.

so i would not bother, unless you want the intoxication end.

tobacco works good. neem works good. but the thing with tobacco is it is filled with chemicals too...just different ones.

i have tried tobacco on aphids, spider mites (although maybe it was just the excessive amounts i used!) and larger pest species with good results.  i dont like the smell though.  and this was not smokes, it was the buds of my N. rustica....the stronger stuff :crazy2:

i forget if nicotine is topically active....eitehr way which do you rather some nicotine in nowhere near dangerous levels or datura....i will go with nicotiana...

Ya how much sulfuric acid should I use...just a few drops or what?

A tobacco water infusion won't work?

I don't see why not...I mean If I drank it, I would get sick...

It doesn't work like that for bugs?

I thought this would have been a topic on insectivorous insects. In which case, may I reccomend ladybirds? They are self regulating (when no aphids or spider mites are present, they eat themselves, so you don't get a lot of dead and starving bugs) and don't eat plants.
