Slow B+ inoculation, finally signs of life!

Hey I had injected 3 jars with B+ syringe from The Hawk's Eye around 2-3 weeks ago and there was absolutley no sign of life. I had just about given up all hope when finally the jar I put the most spore solution in finally has a bit of mycelium growing on the top side of the jar! I had them sitting on a refridgerator around 68-72 degrees and now I have them all moved outside in the shade where the temperature this week will be 72-88 degrees and I am hoping for the best that the other 2 jars will start too.
There really isn't a point to this post it is for those who have jars that have no mycelium growth to give it a little more time! If there was no growth after 4 weeks in optimum conditions then I would assume the spores are dead, but you should have growth even before then.
Can't wait to grow some yummy shroomies!

yeah thats definently too cold if you really want them to grow. i take it you have room in your house where its pretty warm, me either so this is what ido. every day or to usually at night to keep jars in darkest possible enviornment i refill my incubation tub with hot water about 85-87 degrees because you will naturally lose some heat depending on what conditions are available. B+ is a particularly quick growing strain too. they will grow as you know under your temperatures but dont expect all of them to be fully colonized for another month or so.

I had that EXACT same problem.
B+ spores from The Hawk's Eye not colonizing, one jar did get to about 20% and stopped. I have the jars now in the best place I can think of, my dresser which is about 77*F-83*F
I'm glad to know that this batch of spores he sent out might have just been a slow colonizing batch.
It has been about 1 month and I'll keep them for another month to see if they go anywhere, but good luck!

The other limiting factor to myceleum growth in your jars is the amount the contents are able to 'breathe'. What chemical in the air myceleum requires to grow is unclear to me. I'm assuming it's oxygen. Ensure you are using a lid-method and incubation location that allows your jars to 'breathe.' Having them in a closed container, such as a tub, may also limit the amount of gas exchange.

In regards to the spores being bad-I doubt that is the case. If spores germinate and grow myceleum, the spores are fine. If spores are bad, they will not germinate at all. My B+ spores from THE took about a week to show signs of growth. Following that period, growth seemed relatively slow-until I realized they weren't getting enough gas exchange.

it will grow in 68-72, it will be noticeably slower than say 75-77. 86 is too hot, 86 is optimal for temps inside jar, when you start to go above 86 myc slows down again, rapidly. Mycelium produces its own heat when its colonizing, anywhere from 4-10 degrees depending on how much of it there is. To have it at 86 ambient (outside jars) will naturally raise it in to the 90s slowing growth, you want to have to from mid 70s to low 80s, the lower the temps the less chance of becterial contaminants.

I always heard that anything above 86 deg F cant be good to growing mycelium.

My friend keeps his in a cabinet above the fridge to incubate as well. It's about 78-80 degrees normallly and he has had good growth so i dont think that's the problem.
Just leave them alone if they are starting to grow. Dont put them in sunlight at all.
