I have never heard of Santo Daime or been involved in an ayahuasca ritual myself, but I did find this web page a while ago that talks about ayahuasca rituals. You are very lucky to have been invited to witness and participate in one! You will have to tell us about it when it is over. Well, congratulations!

Prepare yourself for the worst tasting "tea" imaginable. I can heave just thinking about it. Also on the agenda is a heavy body load, disorientation and lots of nausea. The grand finale is, of course, the projectile vomitting.
Psychedelic-wise, people frequently report duds or getting blown out of the water. It is difficult to control the dosage, much more so than any other substance.
Have tripped twice solo. On a low level it is similar to many other psychedelics. I didn't go too deep, only a level 1 or 2. Had a mild vision (more like a daydream than a hologram) that had a profound emotional impact on me.
Though the ride up is tough physically, I noted no "hangover" or burned out feeling like with LSD or mushies.
Good luck! We await your full report.

Hi, in this site there's a dutch version www.santodaime.org see also www.ayahuasca.com forums
i've attended to several santo daime rituals here in Brazil, but instead of telling my experiences , i can only encourage you to try it your self. i don't feel that it taste that bad and I didn't necessarylly have to vomit every time ,but it is part of the 'cleansing' and you 'll feel better afterwards. You should be told to avoid sex, meat and alcohol three days prior the ceremony. As with all entheogens ,respect for it is fundamental. there is another church here called Uni?o do Vegetal which i haven't had the chance to be invited yet, and i think i would fit better into their settings than santo daime settings ,but this very personal. go for it !! and get back to tell.

Well, let's see : the santo daime syncretism besides shamanism, is based on the new testament of the bible and the uni?o do vegetal is based on the old testament. the santo daime have two different rituals, one is called 'o bailado' ( the dance) and the other is called 'concentra??o' ( concentration) and they occur in different days. Both can last 3 to 10 hours, depending on the occasion but usually it's durantion is around 4 -6 hours (i'm not sure if 'uni?o do vegetal' goes longer than that) the 'bailado'ceremony is held with everybody standing up, prayers ,chantting (spll ?) and dancing individually in a limited spot , there are squares painted on the floor to help you on that. at 'concentra??o' everyone will be sited most of the time chantting for a period of time and then being quite in silentness. the tea is served to everyone several times along the ceramony ,if one skip the serving time ,than (s)he have to wait for the next one. At 'uni?o do vegetal' one can drink the tea any time (s)he wants ,after the first serving. there are breaks in between so one can stretch out, talk around to each other , eat some fruit ,drink water ,go to the bathroom etc.. during the ceremony of course one can and May get out to vomit, seat for a while ,whatever, then get back. at 'uni?o do vegetal' there are also initial prayers and lectures, and ingestion of the tea with everyone seated . classic music, instrumental, new era, folk songs are played on loudspeakers. there are sitters in both churches to help out if someone is going through hard times, they remain sober or have little bit of the tea. there are a third big church called 'a barquinha' (the litthe boat) , but i don't now very well about their settings. plus, some differences occur locally like influences of yoga, gnostic and native american elements. i hope that explains it , sorry if there is some lack of accuracy.
