Suxxorz when it's dry, doesn't it? It's been super dry here this year (Colorado). We've had traces of rain recently so some stuff has been coming up. All there's been in the last week were Coprinus comatus, Lentinus ponderosus, Cortinarius (Dermocybe crocea?), and Chlorophyllum molybdites. The only one easy to find was the Chlorophyllum - I spotted it while driving around. Oh, well. The damn drought's gotta end sometime.

Been a member for awhile now. I was President a few years ago. The fair is early this year, August 11, and we'll have Dr. Jack States as the official IDer (the Public is invited!). And yes, there has been almost no rain here even in the mountains. Granby is down to less than 30% of normal - the water is hundreds of yards from where it should be. It's so dry this year that the cops are pulling people over for tossing cigarette butts out their car windows.

I know how you feel. I had Subbs growing near my yard (fertilized with horse shit), and the landscapers destroyed my whole patch, right after the rain

Well generally, Cubes are found in cow pastures growing on manure. Edibles can be found in many different enviroments. You should invest some money in a decent book/guide on edibles, or mushrooms in general.

Edible mushrooms are found throughout Colorado. If you'd like more detailed information then you should come to the Colorado Mycological Society's Mushroom Fair on Sunday August 11. I will make a thread about it in a week or so to give details about the fair. We will even give out some specific locations where people have found various things.

As far as cubes, other than closets, the only case I'm aware of is one where a member of the mycological society was called by the Boulder Police Department when some unknown mushrooms were found growing from a bricklike object on the edge of a parking lot near a apartment building near campus. Apparently, just after the school year ended, somebody threw out their grain spawn and it fruited again.

Psilocybin containing mushrooms seem to be in short supply in nature in Colorado. We know there are some out there, but there must not be very many and they're not easy to find.
