Invertro neglect tekk?

hey everyone,
my friend inculated a jar about 3 months ago... it sat in the incubation chamber for like a month with no signs of growth.. so he decided to ditch the jar and put it on the side ... about a month of neglecting it on the side he found white starting to grow.. he left it on the side still and worked on his other crop... well a month has past since then now pins are growing off the jar..he broke the glass around it and transported it into a poor mans terr. would these pins be safe to eat considering it took so long to sprout.. there are no bad smells, but in the beginning it sorta looked like cobweb was growing... but it turned solid and sprouted.. just wondering if these were safe... thanks

From what Ive read it sounds like it took longer to collonize because the spores might have been a little older. Im not sure, though
