So that you could have the option to reply to either the first post or the last post without having to bother with changing which post to which you're replying from the drop-down menu or scrolling up to the first post and clicking "Quick Reply" (a feat the labor of is exacerbated when the first post is on a page other than the one your on.)

I don't understand how a page can get cluttered when it's just at the bottom. All it would mean is a little extra scrolling for the Related Threads or the Digg, StumbleUpon, etc. links.

I find it interesting that you'd actually call something that would increase the amount of ease and speed with which someone could reply to a post other than the default "the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard." Surely you've heard much stupider ideas. This isn't a stupid idea, at all; it's a great idea. If Ythan made it like this it would be much more user-friendly in my eyes. I think it's stupid because there's a fine line between convenience being a good idea and just plain disgustingly lazy. Not to mention it's fucking ugly. I really don't mind scrolling all the way up to the first post to reply to it. Sometimes you don't even have to do that. If I wanted to respond to your first post, I wouldn't scroll up, I would leave it as it is right now because you also made the last post so it's still going to respond to you.

Honestly, I think this is a great idea, but you didn't take it far enough. I think we should have one quick reply box for each post in the thread. That way, you just find the quick reply box that is in reply to the post you wish to respond to, and then you are all set!

Remember, no clicking is better than clicking once. Anyone who has any common sense in regards to this is just really ignorant.

I think posts about the thread topic SHOULD NOT have a "Re: username" because it would distinguish them from posts that were replies specific to other posts. In fact, I think the Reply To feature should ONLY be used when someone else's post is sandwiched between your post and the one to which you're replying. I think that the way it is now is gross overuse of a potentially useful feature (thus the reason there's so many people who don't use it).

If you click on that "Re: username" that you are criticizing, it will link you straight to the post which was being addressed. You just don't know how to use the boards yet.
