Penicillin Streptomycin

I'm using Penicillin Streptomycin (kill contaminations) + hepes buffer + light agar solution (2g Agar, 1 cup water) + 10cc spore solution to innoculate my jars; The results are very good: I have some strong rizomorphic growth
Here are my questions: 1. Can the Penicillin Streptomycin cause contamination on the casing? 2. Is it safe to eat the shrooms for a person who has allergy to penicillin?

First, over use of antibiotics is a very very very very bad idea. Only use antibiotics in the case of rare or wild prints and as a last resort. Second, yes it is a potential danger to those with allergies. An allergic reaction is just about the last thing someone tripping would want on their hands, and it can result in death. Try explaining that to their family.

I agree on your views RE antibiotics in general. But do you have any evidence that penicllin in the substrate= penicillin in the mushroom? People are always making assumptions that mushrooms automatically absorb any compund found in the substrate, and I don't believe this is necessarily the case.

Cant say for sure myself if the mushrooms do or do not absorb compounds from substrate/contams.....but swim had a buddy who had a bad reaction to eating some shrooms(not his first time BTW).....when he went to the hospital he told them what he had done and all the allergies he has........the doctors seemed to think it was a reaction to penicillin most likely from the mushrooms.......
my two cents

It is generally accepted that any compoinds found in a substrate can end up in the carphapore. I do not have specific data on your exact situation, but, unless I remember incorrectly, either TMC or GGMM had specific warnings regarding penicillin as a contamn (even if defeated) and those with allergies.
