LC subjected to extreme temperatures
    #7364292 - 09/03/07 01:04 PM (16 years, 5 months ago)

Last night my house was broken into. The AC unit was ripped out of my window. Point being: my room heated up to about 92degrees until I got back home and fixed everything, meaning my LC also heated up to 92. While the room was cooling down again, I put my LC into the fridge to prevent the high temperature from killing the myc. Will this hinder my LC at all? I knocked it up a few days ago and it had began to show some light whispy growth so I threw it on a stir plate.

thank you all for your help

92 degrees shouldnt kill anything...i think it needs to be over 115 or somewhere around there to kill it...

the heat wont hurt it, the cold wont hurt it, just make sure it's not so cold it forms ice in it, freezing will rupture the cell walls.

I routinely store LC's in the fridge for up to 8 months and after a few days of incubation they r viable.
