my colonies died

So I had two colonies chugging along. I was trying to figure out a good way to incubate them so I wrapped them up in a thermal blanket. That has turned out to be a bad idea, as they are now both dead (or at least their growth has completely halted).
If at first you don't succeed, try again - I'm going to make some more PF substrate (with some different parameters in terms of proportion, just to see what works) this weekend.
In the meantime, I'm eying the mycelium that has grown so far. The younger jar doesn't have much (a few quarter-sized outgrowths are visible on the side) but the rye culture was literally a couple days away from casing. It's totally covered in mycelium, except for the top, and one side which is not quite as abundant (though still quite visibly covered with mycelium) as the other. It's a half-pint jar, with 2-3 inches of space on the top, and the strain is golden teacher.
I'm just wondering if these jars have any use to me now. I'm guessing that growing more mycelium from them is right out (not to mention unnecessary, as I've still got a syringe of liquid culture sitting in the fridge). So naturally, I'm thinking of making a tea from the rye jar. How potent would this tea likely turn out to be?

If you'll mix one cup of brown rice flour and one cup of water with two cups of verm, you won't have to experiment. It will be dead on. There are little to no actives in the mycelium so don't waste your time with tea. RR

I believe you could salvage the mycelium in the more-colonized jar. Just wash off all excess substrate, and keep the healthy myc. break it up enough to fit in a small little tray, perhaps even a modified coke bottle or something. You might get a few shroomies from it, it's worth a shot I would guess.
Also, (i'm lovin this tek!) I found if your jar has myc in it, and there is no sign of contamination, this is perfect to keep it goin.
