To those who are philosophy majors or have graduated such, what do you plan to do/what are you doing now?

Just wondering as I am a phil major and graduate next fall.  Pondering the law school track ... so many choices. hrm.

Cheers!

Which branch of philosophy did you concentrate on?

As I am in the "advanced studies" track, Ive taken metaphysics, phenomenology, selfhood, logic, ethics (medical & environmental) along with quite a few other relatively diverse philosophy classes.  Actually, I am almost done with my major and am beginning psych classes now.. kinda bland compared to philosophy  :minigun:

I hope to begin my undergrad thesis on environmental policy or deep ecology in the upcoming year.  Ive been considering both law (environmental) and a PhD in environmental ethics/policy or the deep ecology section.  Really unsure which route to take.

Cheers!

Is law going to make you happy, or are you just considering it because it is a traditional tract for philosphy students and/or because good bucks are relatively assured?

Something tells me that your hearts not in it and you should go with the other.

My mom was a philosophy major. She's a housewife now...

I agree, but I am trying my best not to be a simple armchair philosopher. I don't quite see the point of thinking about problems without doing anything about them. Although I would really like to do some research ... as you can see I am quite confused! I guess the major plus for law school is that my math skills have atrophied into goo so the GRE scares me. Kind of a lame plus though. No math on the lsat!

Anyways, interesting how writing stuff down helps you to figure it out.

Cheers!
