it has as lot of experiments like this, and they found out plants will actually form relationships with your emotions.
someone would look at a plant and think of burning it and they would get readings on some sort of machine like the plant was literally "shaking" from being scared, then they would think sweet thoughts while looking at it and it would thrive.
they also found out that plants react to the destruction of living cells. when you poor hot water down the drain, every plant within 50 ft is scared and effected, because your killing thousands of little living bacterias.
ive literally watched grass jump around as the lawn mower pointed towards it (not being blown by air or anything).

Is this a joke? Either its the funniest thing I've seen or quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen. Do you really believe this?
This is up there with this.

I love that book! For all you non-believers out there stfu and read it, then come talk shit about it.
The machine in question is a simple polygraph (aka the lie detector, yes like the one you always see in the movies)
It's a VERY interesting book, even though a bit old. I recommend it to anyone interested in plants
Maybe the vibrations from the music are help to bring CO2 to the leaves by shaking them ever so slightly? It would seem to make sense seeing how the death metal had the best results, and that the two talking rooms had the same results regardless of their attitudes.

They were growing in pots provably with perlite in the soil so the vibration would help keep the soil aerated.

I'd like to see the experiment repeated a lot of times to see what happens, to prove that the music versus silence is more than statistical anomaly. Otherwise my hypothesis is that heavy metal, with it's basslines, would stimulate the parts of the plant that classical and higher pitched voices wouldn't reach.
Now I want to do an experiment with signal generators and various LFO's.

Neither, really. They just tested different types of music. Personally, I suspect it is the vibrations from the sound that help the plants grow better. Based upon your question, I'm guessing you have the same suspicion.

I would guess that mythbusters as always used a way to small test group to get significant results.
In short: they suck and everything they to is worthless POS tests which prove nothing, they don't even give good indications one way or another.

I can see low vibrations helping a plant grow faster. When I threw a fan into my veg box, my babies got nice n thick. So if you're blasting something like Basshunter for them, the vibrations from that would probably have the same effect due to the shaking.

well the mythbusters did one test only and I didnt see any soundproofing to isolate thier mini greenhouses acoustically. but look at the the guy that developed sonic bloom. he worked on it over 10 years and even got into the guinnes book of world records and he uses a high pitched warbling noise.
