I innoculated 10 gallons of straw with one gallon of eq spawn. I always save a little spawn to sprinkle on top. Well it has been 10 days and everything is nice and white with a few green spots on the top. I cut them out and sprayed the area with 3% bleach water. The next morning the sides of my casing were blue. Its in a clear container. Did something go wrong or is this normal when using bleach.
Isn't 3% too much bleach?.. you might have hurt the mycelium. I believe it's 1 cup of bleach for every 10 gal. water. 1 cup= 0.0625 gal. liquid. So if you were to put 1 cup for every 1 gallon of water. You would have 6.25% bleach. ( Divide 6.25 by 10 ) Therefore you would really need 0.625% of bleach, or maybe 0.95% of bleach for a strong solution... It also depends on what brand of bleach you are using though because some brands are diluted. Correct me if I'm wrong...

3% is way too strong. are you sure you figured right ? it's about 6% straight out of the bottle, so 3% would be 50/50 bleach and water, way too strong. should be 1 part bleach to 100 water, making it about .06%
