How long is the shelf life of chocolate?

I'm thinking about making some LSA Chocolates and i was wondering how like they would last. not just the LSA but also the chocolate, outside and inside of refrigeration.

The shelf life of chocolate is generally a year. Ingredients such as nuts will shorten the shelf life. Chocolate kept beyond 1 year may suffer flavor loss or texture changes.

ate some year old easter candy once that hid itself in my room.

like chocolate, though something was very obviously wrong with it. the taste is hard to describe, but the chocolate seemed to be a lot softer. I guess the taste was similar to that of plastic, though I dont think theres really a word to describe the taste of old chocolate.
stale, plastic-like, like candle-wax. really not appealing.
not something I would eat even if I was desperate for chocolate.
