Don't you think he's taking it too far?
How can one make such erroneous assumptions about something that huge and unknown?
How can one make assumptions even about humanity like that?
To each his own I say.
In my opinion, running away from being manipulated straight in the arms of another dogma is not really a change. :smirk:
And those who make a religion based on that are no different from those who want to start a new society. Meaning that they both end up in the same place where they left...

See, that's the thing.

I am not advocating or suggesting joining any particular group....just advocating that one studies...and stops believing what they hear in the "mainstream media".

And that people stop thinking they've fully researched something simply by Googling it. Which sadly, some people do think.

Well I guess it's up to us as individuals to oppose the forces of culture within ourselves. Or you can choose to go along completely.

Ultimately it may be of little cosmic importance, but what we believe surely is of importance personally.

It's hard to disagree with the kind of empty rhetoric Hubbard uses in that video.

I mean, sure, what a great idea! Let's not allow some kind of wisdom to be twisted around and used against humanity! I Agree with that!

So what's he talking about, really?

Well, it's just a short excerpt from a full length lecture...and one or two individuals on this board...(see prior post) are terrified about people studying Scientology and use "covert hostility" to try to make it seem like something it isn't. And if you don't know what Hubbard is talking about, maybe you guys need to look up any words there that you don't understand...

Oh, you KNEW Hubbard? Cool, man.

Scientology is actually very current and applies to us all...

Indeed, true philosophy invents nothing; it merely establishes and describes what is...and that is all Scientology does.

Some people can confront what is...while others, such as yourself, clearly can't...

Well, keep guessing and you'll eventually get it right.

Scientology is about what IS and humans are on a gradient scale of Being-Not-Being...so, the rest is for you to figure out...

And Googling something doesn't constitute fully researching a subject.

Any fool with a few pennies and a computer can create a website and say whatever he/she wants...but if you don't believe me, browse the internet for a few hours...

True philosophy invents nothing; it merely establishes and describes what is.

Lets talk about Mr. Jettero Heller.

True philosophy invents nothing; it merely establishes and describes what is.

"establish what is"

what is what? what is IME is not being confined by the barriers of language and thought. i can also not tell you what is, nobody can. you have to experience to realize what is, why should you listen to Hubbard. why not tell it to yourself? realize yourself, then you will come to know what is.

we are all entitled to our own unique philosophy, why follow someone elses and not build and create our own through personal experience? you are contributing to your own duality by holding so much trust and belief in something that another man created. how are you so positive what his intentions are?

Exactly! which is part of the trap of this physical universe....all our words "concern themselves" with phenomena of this universe...

There are techniques that involve the asking of certain questions/doing certain drills that separate oneself out from the universe of Matter, Energy, Space, Time...

Those who have vested interests in sickness and death (and the things which bring about sickness and death) don't want that...because as an individual separates himself out he becomes more honest, more ethical and more "self" uninhibited by the untruths contained in this universe...

Why do you think so much trouble is gone through to discredit Scientology in the mainstream media?

Because those "running the show" know that a large % of humans are unthinking repeaters of the bullshit they see on TV. One poster in this thread was even quoting a cartoon episode as if it were truth...

Additionally, Scientology isn't about following Hubbard or anything like that...Hubbard even discusses the phenomena that if one pursues Scientology techniques that they have the result of freeing the person from many things...including Scientology...

One utilizes techniques to discern and see what one sees on a larger and larger scale, not what one is told to see as is popular in many other religions/philosophies...

It really isn't a belief system, but instead something one *does*.

This is a description of just 2 items that apply to us in this universe.

(I did see the Scientology South Park episode...and I can assure you that that is *not* "what Scientologists actually believe" although maybe some do...my personal opinion on the identity of Göd is Björk...and not all Scientologists would agree with me...but then who really knows what God is or if it even exists?)

and FG is right...the SP episode has no bearing on anything except some entertainment value...)

All of it that I have studied...but that is another point...Hubbard advises anyone and everyone taking a look at Scientology (and indeed ANY subject) to compare it with one's own observations...and if it coincides, that's great, if not, dump it...but one must get rid of preconceived ideas about a subject and actually observe....this is a big obstacle for some people...and I know you have experienced this when talking with various fundamentalists...

Scientology is not an authoritarian subject...

Unfortunately, when *people* get involved with subjects...the subject sometimes become less than it is.

I am also not beating the drum for the *Church of Scientology.*

Some of my research points in this direction that the Church of Scientology may have been seized, after Hubbard's death in the early-mid 80's, by individuals not sympathetic to the ideals set forth by Hubbard.

Indeed, some Clears and OTs were being tested by gov agencies in the last few decades in remote viewing experiments...and you can bet that, if successful, the gov would have acted quickly...

The U.S. Gov, and likely others, are terrified of things that free people's minds from the controls and restraints which "society" imposes...same reason why psychedelics...from the most mild to the most intense are demonized and made illegal.

But, the data is still there and 2 or more individuals, free of the restraints of any group, can learn to apply it and do so.

sounds like a kiddy pool

asking questions and doing drills that separate oneself from energy and space sounds like complete and utter bullshit. you can't separate from energy because you are energy.

You are energy and love and power and light and vibration and waves of rapture and joy that extend far beyond your physical body – in fact they (you) never end because you are indeed connected to everything because everything is vibration.

Those who have vested interests in sickness and death (and the things which bring about sickness and death) don't want that...because as an individual separates himself out he becomes more honest, more ethical and more "self" uninhibited by the untruths contained in this universe...

separation from energy/consciousness descends one from unified conscious awareness into egoic dualistic awareness of 3rd dimensional reality. there are no untruths contained within the universe. it is all in the mind.

Can you feel the pull of your ego’s thinking? Now surrender that thinking to your Soul. Your Soul/SELF—your fifth dimensional consciousness—thinks very differently than your third dimensional ego/self. Your Soul/SELF thinks in pictures rather than lining words up sequentially. As an alternative to “having a thought,” your Soul/SELF will “have a picture.” Your Soul/SELF can zoom in, or zoom out, from that picture; it can step into the picture, or it can observe it. Your Soul/SELF can also observe your third dimensional ego/self, or any other part of your third dimensional world, whether or not your physical self is aware of that observation. Through fifth dimensional thought, you can deeply identify with every person, creature, plant, rock or drop of water.

Why do you think so much trouble is gone through to discredit Scientology in the mainstream media?

because people don't want to see others get their life fucked over by the scamming lowlifes that are Scientologists.

It really isn't a belief system, but instead something one *does*.

Taoism is much more effective IMO. there is less babble, no opportunity to be scammed and brainwashed, no Hubbard, no churches, no separation, no bullshit.

You are describing to me your belief system which sounds a lot like it is based on Scientology.

Re: What happens to knowledge and wisdom on Earth [Re: Pulsating]

Why do you think so much trouble is gone through to discredit Scientology in the mainstream media?

Well, for one thing, Hubbard claimed to be an "Atomic Physicist", and the church claims that he "studied engineering and atomic and molecular physics" and "his first experiments concerning the structure and function of the mind were carried out while at the university".

Outright lies.

He got shitty grades in university, then dropped out before completing the second year. And he got an F in the one physics class he did take, according to school transcripts.

Hubbard also lied about attending Princeton. In the preface to one of his books he thanks "my instructors in atomic and molecular phenomena, mathematics and the humanities at George Washington University and at Princeton". The truth is that he dropped out of George Washington University with shit grades and NEVER went to Princeton.

You claim that Scientology applies to all of us but that sounds to me like communist propaganda that if you repeat to people often enough, eventually they believe it. And then you regurgitate Hubbard's teachings here as if he were some kind of saint instead of a thief and a liar. WTF?

And if dishonesty isn't enough, Hubbard was also a hypocrite. He spoke out against pharmaceutical drugs and taught his blind followers to stop taking their prescribed medicines and instead follow his witchdoctor treatments.

Meanwhile, he was a raving drug addict and drunk as he sailed the oceans in his private flotilla attended to hand and foot by barely dressed teenaged girls.

Read the "Legal difficulties and life on the high seas" section of the Wiki article for more. It excerpts sections of his unauthorized biography coving this and much more hypocrisy.

He has also made the following false claims:

That he was a much decorated war hero. He was not.

That he commanded a corvette squadron. He did not.

That he was awarded the Purple Heart, a gallantry decoration for those wounded in action. He was not wounded and was not decorated.

That he was crippled and blinded in the war and cured himself with Dianetic technique. He was not crippled and was not blinded. :rofl2:

That he was sent by U.S. Naval Intelligence to break up a black magic ring in California. He was not. He was himself a member of that occult group and practiced ritual sexual magic in it.

So yeah, this ^^^ probably explains the media's discrediting of Hubbard and his cult.

If the shit he taught is so good, why all the lies? Why teach against some things, then be a hypocrite and do those same things yourself? I'll tell you why. Because Hubbard was a skilled and consummate con artist who took advantage of the fact that blind cult followers never think for themselves or question anything their leaders say.

Okay. Maybe you would want to. But can you honestly blame anyone else for trying to discredit my writing or refusing to give them a fair reading?

The more important question is...Why on Earth would you believe everything you read about someone you never met and about a subject you know nothing about...?

???

Discussing a topic hardly qualifies as "speaking through it".

If someone doesn't listen, that is that person's issue they need to handle...

It is rather funny to watch some individuals run around acting like they know all about a subject because of something they saw on TV.

But then some others are brighter than that and understand that there are at least 2 sides to every story...and don;t submit to the passive brainwashing that occurs in our enlightened society.

I like your generalities, btw.

Misinterpretation....easily done by someone self-admittedly confused.

Hubbard didn't say any of what you claim he did.

Something you have likely never studied...yet profess to know all about...

I don't think anyone here claims to know all about Scientology, but it's not necessary to study something in depth to glean what it's about.

I've never immersed myself in communism, but I don't have to do that to know that it's a dead social system I want nothing to do with.

And I never met Hubbard or Stalin either, but I still have a pretty good idea what they were all about.

Also, there's plenty of evidence from former Scientologists (who ARE experts on the church) who had the presence of mind to extract themselves from that cult for me to make a well-informed judgment on the Church and its practices.

There are court judgments against the church that are public records exposing their crimes and their lies.

There are people who have been chased and harassed and frightened by aggressive church members when they spoke out against the church. The church even has a formal name for this ritual intimidation practice: Fair Game.

Hubbard wrote the following about Fair Game:

The homes, property, places and abodes of persons who have been active in attempting to: suppress Scientology or Scientologists are all beyond any protection of Scientology Ethics, unless absolved by later Ethics or an amnesty ... this Policy Letter extends to suppressive non-Scientology wives and husbands and parents, or other family members or hostile groups or even close friends. Fair game may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.

Meaning that for simply speaking out out against the church, the church can follow and scare the shit out of, and even INJURE my mother, sister, friends, and anyone else who knows me in an effort to force me to stop speaking the truth as I know it. That's fucked up.

In this regard, they are equivalent to the Taliban who also hurt people who disagree with their religion.

I don't have to know any more about the church beyond that ^^^ formal policy to know that it's a festering cesspool of superstition and aggression and I want nothing to do with it.

And finally, if you don't like what someone here says about the church, stop reading. If you tell anyone to "shut their rooster-holster" again, I'll ban you so you can think about this:

You don't start threads here then tell people who disagree with you to shut up. That's what the mumbo jumbo forum is for and Fair Game won't work here.

I'll move this thread to mumbo jumbo if you like. Just ask. Otherwise it can stay here open to debate.

I'm not talking about the collection of individuals known as the CHURCH of Scientology (or CoS). I am talking about the SUBJECT of Scientology...which is contained in the books and recorded lectures of LRH. 40+ million words worth.

Would you take a college class on a subject when the professor had never opened 1 book on the subject...but instead was giving a class based on info from what people said about what people said about the subject?

Also, how does being a "former member" of a *group* qualify someone as an expert on a *subject*? I'd really like to know. I always thought being an expert on a subject required study of theory and practical application...not just hanging around other group members.

"Yeah, I hung out with a few physicists once....and now I'm an expert on physics..."

Quote:

Yep, you're right there have been judgments against the Church of Scientology.

Also important to consider is the FACT that the American Legal system is ALWAYS in search of the truth. Right?

And when you say "their crimes", are you referring to every single Scientologist? Or is that just a generality?

Once again, I am not talking about the CHURCH of Scientology....but instead the SUBJECT of Scientology. Two totally distinct and separate entities.

That's an incorrect interpretation of Fair Game. Speaking out against something isn't trying to suppress it.

But tell me, if someone was trying to destroy you and your family, would you try to destroy them first or would you just get walked on?

More "theys"? Just who are you talking about when you say "THEY"

Interestingly, *one* of the characteristics of a Suppressive Person, is the use of generalities...

If you ever wondered if there are evil people on this planet, there are...and there are also characteristics that you can identify an Suppressive Person (SP) by.

http://faq.scientology.org/page39.htm

An SP has the majority of those characteristics.

That same individual who I suggested shut her "rooster holster" initiated the exchange by sending derogatory private messages. I instructed this person not to contact me anymore when I promptly received 2 more derogatory private messages.

Once again I am talking about the SUBJECT of Scientology....not the CHURCH of Scientology.

I am just posting words on an internet message board. How is that anywhere near Fair Game?

I am talking about the SUBJECT of Scientology

The SUBJECT of Scientology is codified in Hubbard and the church's writings. Other than what some former members have exposed, most of those writings are secret.

That's the church's problem, not mine. I can only go on by what is available for me to read.

Also, how does being a "former member" of a *group* qualify someone as an expert on a *subject*?

How else does one become an expert other than to be a member of the group or to read their secret writings?

The people I'm calling experts are former HIGH-RANKING members of the church. People who paid lots of money to ascend the through the various 'levels' then finally quit when reason overcame irrational superstition.

And when you say "their crimes", are you referring to every single Scientologist? Or is that just a generality?

I'm referring, for example, to the #2 person heading the church, Hubbard's wife, who was convicted of felonies done under church sanction and Hubbard himself who was never convicted but named by the court as a co-conspirator.

Are you saying that the #2 person heading the church does not represent the church?

But tell me, if someone was trying to destroy you and your family

How does speaking one's opinion about the church equate to destroying anyone or their family?

and there are also characteristics that you can identify an Suppressive Person (SP) by

Suppressive Person?? This must be one of the church's secret nonsense terms. :rofl2:

That same individual who I suggested shut her "rooster holster" initiated the exchange by sending derogatory private messages.

Then deal with them in private messages, not in the forum. There is an ignore button instituted for this exact purpose. Use it.

The movie, unfortunately, sucked. NOTHING like the book. The book is quite good and if you want some excellent Sci-Fi with social commentary, "The Mission Earth" series (10 books) is quite good. Then you can try to judge Scientology using that too.

And why would you watch a movie to gain an understanding of a totally disrelated subject?

That is precisely what is wrong with this unenlightened culture we live in!

Good lord, that alone convinced me that Scientology is not my thing. The description of an "evil" person comes very close to a cynic. I am by no means a cynic, but I definitely think they have an important role in society. I am also against any philosophy that tries to pinpoint an evil individual: ideas that become rhetoric that become violence on people who express a certain viewpoint. No viewpoint should ever be suppressed.

Well, comfy for you or not, there are individuals dedicated to evil in this world...

That's why there are engineered wars (innocent people dying) for monetary profit, man-made, body/brain rotting drugs being given to infants and children for "diseases" which don't exist, torture, and many other unsatisfactory items which are part of our culture which I am sure you can think of.

It's all about increasing one's Knowledge, Responsibility and Control.

Indeed, the true evil ones of this world don't want to be found out.
