OoOO, this brings an interesting idea to mind.

What will give you more total cactus weight, growing one 1' cactus, or growing two 6" cacti?

I guess it all depends on how much faster the big ones grow.


Those cacti look beautiful cpw, I hope they grow big and healthy. Mind me asking what vendor you ordered from?

i would not cut them in half, the bigger the cutting the fatter/bigger the pups will be, i rooted cutting just like that got big 3-4 inch thick pups off of it, cut the pups off and now ones of the same fatness is growing again,

got em planted and here they are next to my bigger bridgesii

and here is my graft looking pretty minuscule next to them.....



and so the true monster had to show em who was bigger.....

yeah they are indoor though
but if you are talking abouth the taller Bridgesii then the tip was skinny when I got it and thats how fat it grew from there on

it was this one.....

it was severely etiolated when I got it
all the skin where it got skinny was old skin also so it wouldnt fatten up. maybe it was stored a while before I got it????

yeah I let one of mine slip out of dormancy during last winter and it got all thin on me. put it outside and the top is thicker than the base now.

that bridge should go outside next summer :smile:
