First Grow - Sort Of - Brazilian

I plan on growing something with better overall procedure using a pc and more jars soon but at the moment i only had a pot and enough for one jar - brazilian strain. so maybe you can tell me from the pics if it looks at all like its on the right track at day 6 after inoculation. the jar is tinted as well as you can see so that only makes it more difficult to tell, and i dunno if you can with that or what. but again i did this as a spur of the moment type thing and i plan on doing a much better job with more jars soon so ill get back to you with that. but if this one has a chance as well thatd be awesome anyway. Aiii :/ ... maybe i should have put this in the grow log forum.

Looking good for six days especially if thats from a multispore. I hope that jar isn't tapered. I cant tell due to the foil, but that would make the cake hard to birth without breaking the jar.

He's asking if the jar gets narrower near the top than at the bottom. If this is the case, the cake won't slide out nicely for placement in a fruiting chamber. You'd either have to break the glass or break the cake. And if you break the cake, you might as well case it (which isn't a bad thing, just more complicated/difficult).

oh, k, no it doesnt its just narrower at the bottom. maybe just the foil makes it look that way. so would you like me to post in like a week with updated pics or what? i noticed there arent too many threads on the brazilian strain so it might be nice to have another anyway.

foil off? the holes are covered with the foil. i dunno, it seems to be working fine so... anyway, when do you think itll start pinning? im totally new to this so im just learning as i go.
for fruiting i just plan on getting some perlite and using a large plastic container and maybe cutting it on top and adding plexiglass there so it gets light.

also, how long do you think it'll take once fruiting begins for my mushrooms to grow and be fully done with the entire process? (take into consideration this is one of the faster grows, and brazils in general are fast)

Pinning usually starts after about a week of being in the fruiting chamber, once a good pinset has growen they really dont take that long.
Once the jar looks to have covered the entire glass, give it another 4-5 days just to make sure the middle of the substrate has covered.
Check the bottom of the jar too.
I too only steam sterilised my jars, though mine are growing much slower than urs, but i did make my first few jars too wet.

hey guys, so my jar is still colonizing. for some reason it slowed down around the last time i posted here and has been real slowly colonizing the rest of the way. horizontally its completely colonized but on the bottom its more like only 65 percent colonized. there has been more condensation the last week or so, is that normal?
as far as when i do put it in my chamber, i did cut off the top of my rubbermaid container and added a small plexiglass part so it would allow light to get in but its not as wide as i would have liked it to be. i think when i put more jars in some may be excluded from the light. so do you think i should just cover the top with plastic wrap or use the cover with plexiglass?

It may be currently colonizing toward the center. Really the only thing that would cause it not to colonize downward is dryness, and I don't see how that would be a problem if the jar is sitting on its bottom. I would give it more time. Are you using the sun, or artificial lighting as a light source?

If using sunlight, you shouldn't have to worry about any of the cakes not getting light. Sunlight is powerful enough to reflect heavily off of pretty much every non-dark surface in the room.
