the online trading market now is all computerised and its simply not possible for the "mom and pop" investor to compete with the big companies with sophisticated systems. these systems react in miliseconds and eat up all of the gains instantly. its not a level playing field


it's the same reason why the wall street floor trader is a dying breed, because the technology these days is far too superior to that method of trading now.

Excellent points, I mainly just make educated guesses after researching for a few hours . Honestly I have made a theoretical killing doing it, but I don't see it becoming anything more than a hobby at this point.
