A teacher of mine once showed me a fuzzy (are there any other kind?) photo of a UFO hovering over his cornfield in Iowa in broad daylight, circa 1958.
He got several pictures published in the local newspaper. A day or two later, two guys showed up in a black Cadillac claiming they were from the Air Force. They told his mom they needed to study the negatives and asked if they could borrow them. The pictures and negatives were never seen again. (He had had one left at school).
When he later called the number on the card they gave his mom - it was a wrong number.
I can answer no questions as this was 25 years ago and am not in contact with my teacher.

That's what the Men in Black do.. do everything to stop the public from becoming aware of an extraterrestrial presence. Whether it be through threats, stealing, destruction, terrorizing, or asking nicely.

It was people like him that got me interested in UFOs, but to date I have witnessed nothing.

One thing you can, I think, definitely get from this story Swami is that the Air Force (a government operation) has something to hide. Don't you think?

Sorry, but that book written about the (non-existent) Mayan Prophecies is NOT a scholarly treatise, but ramblings designed to sell books.
Check out the Library of Congress. There are some 300+ titles concerning Atlantis all based on one paragraph written by Plato millenia ago, yet people call these "references".

Cool story Swami. It's interesting when people we trust implicitly do or say something incongruous with their nature or the nature of your relationship. I don't know if this story was entirely out of the ordinary for your teacher, but this sounds like one of those situations.
I don't know what to make of the Men In Black theory, except that among all the crazy stuff the US government gets up to, it doesn't seem entirely unlikely.

"Petty" is a highly subjective description. What is petty for some might well be important for others. Personally I do not care if s/he is Martian.
"Her" posts are highly analytic and very logical. Along the male/female curve males lean towards facility with numbers and analytic cold logic and females lean towards facility with words and are more intuitively oriented. Therefore, "her" posts might appear anomalous to some.
What if "Mr_Mushrooms" chose to veil her sex by posting analytically because she hated guys coming on to her all the time? Would that be a surprise too?
