How long can one leave cakes on their own (using the ol' perlite method) before they start needing attention again. The reason I ask is that I have to go away for the weekend and i waont see my lil shroomies for like for saturday or sunday?

I have a see-through plastic cover that works nicely-shall I just fold it over so as to leave a little strip of space at one end for air exchange?

yup just make sure you have a way of letting all the c02 produced by the mushrooms dissipate.
