The annual company fishing trip *updated pic - 2007*

Flying to San Diego tomorrow, boarding a 65 foot fishing boat, and heading out to slaughter some tuna this weekend. The annual company fishing trip is always a fucking blast! And it only costs me $20 which goes into the pool for the biggest fish. The winner usually takes home about $600, second place about $200-300 and third place $100. Company pays for the rest (flights, food, beer, fishing gear, etc.)
Wish me luck this weekend. Hopefully I'll be coming home with some extra money in my pocket. Either way I'll be bringing home a shitload of tuna to eat!

I only went deep sea fishing once for blues.
I caught one, got nauseous, and slept the rest of the trip.
Have fun and good luck!

I once won a deep sea fishing throw in. I caught a big ass fisk I forgot what kind it was but I stuffed the water hose down his dead throaght before the weigh in and won. He was watter logged but still just as big if not bigger than all the others and I think they were most likely doing the same thing.

On these trips?...probably close to 20 lbs. Biggest I ever caught was Dorado off the coast of Cabo San Lucas that was around 35 lbs.

I am one of the lucky few who never get motion sickness under any circumstance. There is always at least one guy on the trip who spends the whole time sick as a dog and vows never to go again.

THREAD REVIVAL I'm leaving this evening for the annual trip again. Thought I'd revive this thread from a couple years ago. The pic above was from the '05 trip. And the one at the top of the thread was from '02. Here I'll post a pic from last years trip (that'd be '06).
Thats 2 of my fish from last year. A yellowfin and a dorado.
With a little luck I'll be knocking 'em dead in the morning. They've been catching a lot of albacore the last couple weeks so it looks good (all the fish in the '02 picture up top are albacore). The best part is that the boat leaves out of San Diego, and now that I moved here it is only like 5 minutes from my house to the dock!
Lets hear it for ocean fishing!!

Well, I guess it had to happen eventually...I got skunked. First time ever on an ocean trip.
The fish had moved far offshore in the last few days. We had to go 85 miles out to sea to get to them. Thats an 8 hour boat ride...one way! That only gave us about 4 hours of fish time before we had to turn around and head back. We got on top of them a couple times, but they weren't biting like I've seen in the past. I hooked up 3 times and lost them all. And one guy hooked a marlin and had a short but exciting fight before it got off. Out of 19 guys we only brought back 14 fish. Luckily, one of the guys didn't want to pack his fish home so he gave it to me. So the fish pictured below was not caught by me, but is going to be eaten and enjoyed by me. Got about 10 pounds of fillets off this guy! (thats albacore, BTW)
Still had a blast, even though I got skunked. And I don't feel so bad with all that fresh tuna in the fridge!
