Zantax or Zantac. It's the best one that I've encountered so far. I have it bad too. In fact, I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow about it. I went through 1 of those big bottles of tums in a week and I still had constant heartburn. I tried Mylanta or whatever the hell it was, some anti-gas/antacid and it didn't cut it.
I tried one Zantax and it worked. It came back the next day.

absolute best solution right here. My grandparents had a doctor tell them this years ago, and they swear by it. They add raw honey to the mix as well. It's important to use raw, uprocessed, unpasteurized honey to get maximum results. Any would work but it would serve little to no medicinal value just be for flavor.

he will just precribe you to a medication that might work but there will be side effects. I would highly recommend trying apple cider vinegar. The even have them in tablet if you really can't stomach the drink. It works, and it has no side effects.

Pepcid AC always worked like a charm for me, everything else was kind of a crapshoot.
However, if you make a habit of using antacids all the time, I find you get heartburn more easily.

You were right. He gave me some samples of an antacid that should work in a couple of days. He recommends that I get an upper GI if the pills don't work in a couple of weeks.

Des I've been through every pill and test there is right now I'm on Nexium, it does work very well however you must take it daily and it does take a few days to start working. Most likely your on prilosec or one of the purple pills that block stomach acids from pumping.

I find it irronic that these pills prevent excess stomach acid, but it's the lack of stomach acid that causes acid reflux disease. When your body doesn't have enough acid to digest your bood, your burp it back up. I never understood why people would take an anti-acid when you need the exact opposite. Believe it or not, apple cide vinegar is not only a treatement but a CURE. By take a pill you only mask the symptoms while the problem ultimately gets worse. This is stuff they I have heard from a modern medical doctor that didn't like to prescribe drugs right away. My grandparents have used this method for over 50 years and they take zero drugs and they are both in their mid 70's. I probably sound like a hollistic hippie quack, but I hate seeing doctors prescribe synthetic meds to treat a "disease" that could be cured by something extremely cheap and natural, apple cider vinegar + raw honey. http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html

Simplifying things a bit: The acid secretion of your stomach is regulated by two things.
First pH ove the stomach juices. That is why any antiacid that just counteracts your stomach acid (milk, bicarbonate, some commercial preparations) give a fast but short lasting effect. In fact they are worse as they lower the acidity of your stomach juices which makes your stomach produce even more acid, worsening the problem.
That is exactly why vinegar or lemon juice work so well because instead of decreasing the acidity of your stomach juices it increases it, so in response the stomach STOPS producing more acid.
The above antiacids just deal with the symptoms not with the problems, so they work for occasional acitidy.
The other regulatory process is neural. Your brain sends signals to the stomach via the vagus nerve to produce more acid, normally because you are expecting food to go in (about to eat).
Some antiacids interfere with the stomachs hormones making it produce less acid, and you normally have to take these medications every day. Other treatments include a vagotomy where the vagus nerve is cut by a surgeon to prevent the signals arriving from the brain. This treatment is considered slightly barbaric and can cause some problems so it is only used in some specific, extreme cases
This second group of treatments aim to solve an underlying problem that causes extra acid secretion.
If you suffer from lots of acidity you have to consult your doctor as it can be a symptom of a bigger problem

Also, the most common cause of acid reflux is a weakened cardias (sphincter between your esophagus and stomach) normally due to having problems with stomach acidity in the first place

Believe me I tried cider vinegar, my dad used it for years and I would much rather take something natural than a pill but I have a problem with the valve that keeps acid from flowing upward which was made worse form years of undiagnosed sleep apnea. This would cause me to stop breathing several times a minute during sleep and the brain sending a signal to the body to push upward and restart the breathing cycle. Now that I'm on CPAP I have less problems but the damage is already done and I would need surgery to correct the problem.
