Dont use the lids unless you plan on buying replacements. They tend to rust and get funky in such a humid enviroment, which is why people use aluminum foil instead.

ok i just go dunking my other 2 cakes last night. i rolled them in what little vermiculite i had. i tossed 1 cakes cuz it stopped colonizing. i tossed another from greeny meanies. i just found another in my incubation chamber with the greany meanies. it is on the uncolonized substrate can i do anything to save it? or do i just toss it? O yea and the best part 2 of my cakes have started to pin today  i will post pics tomorrow

You can take the cake out in to a sterile enviroment, and with a sterile "tool" scissors knife whatever, cut away the contaminated area (providing it isnt that big). After you cut out the area spray it with 5% hydrogen peroxide/95 percent water mixture, also spray your fc with the same mixture to try and prevent possible future spread to other cakes. Good luck man, contams= bastards.

3 of my cakes started pinning yesterday so i took a few pics today. the pic in the middle has a large brown spot that has developed over the last couple days. i thought it was nothing big in till now because of the color, is this contams and how do the pins look for a day old?

Oh man looking at those pins makes me feel great about my cakes, lol no offense dude. Its my first time as well and i dont have any pins as big as your biggest (just starting pinning yesterday) but theres like 10 times as many :o. I would suggest misting/fanning more dude. Give em attention they like that you know

this grow is kinda half ass but i am learning as i go so the jars i am incubating now should do better. is the brown spot in the last pic contams? here are pics from a few hours ago.

K heres whats up man. IF (which i for some reason think it might be something else) that brown spot is contams, just take your spray bottle and add a little bit of peroxide (3-5%). Spray the cake from a distance ONE OR TWO TIMES in that spot. Dont spray it too much because you dont want standing water. 2. Im willing to bet that your humidty is too low, judging by the bluing all over the one cake and your 6-8 pins on 4 jars? lol i have more than that on one jar, thats not normal dude.

misting=terrarium. All the sides and a lid inside if u have one. What i like to do since the ambient rh is low where im at is mist over the top of my fc after ive misted the walls and let is sort of fall on my cakes/casings. You might do good to just use the peroxide solution for your next misting in general as it seems youre having a bout with contams.

Find something else to put those cakes on, there is going to be a rust spot below each when you take them off those lids. I dont know how bad rust is for myc. but I never wanted anything else around but what I put there. As everybody else said thats low humidity... basicly like an overlayed PF cake. get a bubble wand for that terrierium. I got the same crap for a while till I switched to a lighting grate for my place to set the cakes, the best part of that is if you put it about 2 inches off the perlite your cakes fruit 360 degrees, Check my last PF grow from like 2 years ago

too many issues to get what you want, the cakes look dry, cakes leech rust out of metal, it kills them eventually. Your perlite should be sufficient w/o a bubblewand, IF you got it moist correctly, and have a good depth...
if you wish to continue cakes, i have to say RR's shotgun chamber is pretty sweet for cakes..
or, u can spawn those cakes to poo or coir, and put in filter patch bags.

ok i have them on some aluminum foil now and i am misting it a few times a day to try and keep humidity up. but maybe after this flush i can get some money together and try and get a better chamber for my babes. o yea and my 4th cake just started to pin here are some pics....

Looks to me like you need more air exchange.. The begining of the stems are fuzzy. The air exchange would change your yields too. they might be dry too like said above make sure to dunk.

how sad  these pics make me wanna cry every time i see them. Ok dude heres what you do. Pick those shrooms and redunk. Seriously, while youre dunking re-wet your perlite and when you put em back in the terrarium fan more. You want to get those moist before they start using up more energy, its rough on em to produce shrooms all dry and suffocated like that.
by the way a big reason for your FAE problem is the fact that youre using a box instead of a plastic tub with holes drilled in it. I would say put holes in the caroard but that might suck up moisture in to the box.

ok i will harvest tomorrow and i will get a plastic tub to put them in after i redunk. i have been fanning at least 3 times a day for a while now and i misting every time i fan. thanks for the input
