just makin sure everyone who is out there pickin makes sure to tap on the cap to release the spore. don't want them sacred field going dry now do we?!

Thats the craziest thing I've ever heard. Mushrooms release spores at the rate that they are made in the gills. Tapping the cap won't cause a signifigant enough amount of spores to fall.

Gumbys right. My friend tells me to do that too but why should I. If you look underneath the shrooms, there is already a big pile of purplish spores already on the ground so why bother.

Better yet, here's what YourHighness' loyal subjects do:

After a nice harvest, rinse the spores/dung-bits/straw off your shrooms into a large bowl. Obtain an empty bottle with a nozzle, like a sports-drink bottle. Pour the purple liquid into the bottle and refrigerate it until your next hunt. Take the full sporewater bottle with you on your next hunt. Squirt cowpatties & hay piles to spread spores. Future generations will thank you.

I don`t think tapin the cap does much, but the worst thing to do is yank the fuckers out of the shit, cut`em it`s less of a stress on the mycellium.
