i think ill probably wait 2 days.. i think i could probably get more out of it if i wait a bit longer now.. i am still misting it everyday.
how long after putting it in my martha should i expect it to pin.. like 7-10 daysish?

Patching is putting extra casing over the early myc spots.
I don't do it, but lots of people swear by it.

just to clarify, are you misting BEFORE its being put into the fruiting chamber?
i.e. misting it while its doing its casing run and breaking thru the casing?

id say yes thats exactly why you got trich.
the casing is only to be watered when its drying out.
and that usually only happens once its reached the fruiting chamber.
its almost black when its saturated,
and light brown when its almost bone dry.
you should never mist a tray that is doing its casing run, UNLESS the water content was actually on the light brown side.

yea man, it all actuality, they'll more than likely be ok.
its just when casings are super wet, like yours appear to be, its an open invite for contams.
misting is used more for a pinning trigger than moisture.
thats not to say your trays dont need the extra moisture; they'll certainly use it once they're fruiting, but until then, they're already at 100% capacity.
prime example: ive had casing layers go bone dry due to being in fruiting mode and me unable to mist anywhere that wouldnt get water on my mushrooms. in spite of this bone dry surface, the mushrooms continued to grow..because their moisture content mostly comes from the substrate.

your not suppose to fan until their in the FC. when u want ur myc in the colonizatino phase u want that extra co2 for optimal colonization... thats what i thought.

well, the container i use to colonize the casing layer provides no FAE, so i air it out several times per day.. i think my biggest problem is over misting.

Banez,
You want to keep the casing covered with something during the entire time it is colonizing the substrate. Aluminum foil works well for most and the only thing you want to do as far a FAE is to poke a few holes here and there with a fork in the foil.
Here is why:
1. During this time the uncolonized portion of the substrate is highly succeptable to contamination and you want to keep exposure to a minimum.
2. There is no need for any more fresh air during this time that what can get through the few holes you poke. (and the air you let in when you peek at the progress)
3. It is true that there will be a higher ratio of CO2 while colonizing but that is a good thing, because when you place the casing into the FC the drastic reduction of CO2 helps to trigger the fruiting phase of the life cycle.

yeah thats what i have now, sort of...
i have them in the incubator, in the rubbermaid, with the lid on.. and i air it out daily.. it's looking very very good today, i plan on birthing it tomorrow
