for those who attend festivals/doofs

alright i believe doofs are the same as festivals. just different names for different parts of the world. correct me if im wrong. anyway, i went to one a little while ago and the vibes and unison is amazing. i took shrooms and dances all night. all of us danced together, it was as if we were connected, each feeling the music flow through our bodies, moving to each note. it was amazing. i just kept having these worries shooting through my head which made the experience not as good as it could of been.

so i have a few questions, as i am attending another one quite soon. i plan on eating acid this time because i feel more energetic on acid and more sluggish on shrooms. but i wanna rest my mind easy so im not as worried again and can just enjoy the experience.

ok first of all, i am only young, i just turned 18 this year. the people at these music events are much older than me. i felt like the only young one there. everyone was 20 or 40 but older than me. these people did not seem to mind that i was young because i was there for the same reason as them, but is this true? i was worried they might think i was too young and should wait a few years before i start doing these things. so what do you older people who go to these events think of the younger kids who get on psychedelics and dance all night? are we just as accepted as everyone else? i felt an overwhelming sense of unison but i was a little worried everyone might think i was too young as i didnt see anyonre my age.

another thing which kept bugging me was when i would take a break from dancing and my friends werent around i would just lye down by myself or maybe next to someone or talk to a group, of course people i didnt know. i was worried they might of been annoyed maybe i was intruding on thier space or butting in thier conversation, but i felt such unison i thought it was ok. am i right in thinking this? i dont want to be a nuisance i enjoyed talking with other like-minded people? so what do you guys who attend these events think when a stranger joins your conversation or lies next to you? i find this more enjoyable than lying down by myself, but do the people i talk to mind?

and the other thing which was strange for me was the way i was dressed. i was in clothes i had just bought from the shopping centre whereas everyone else was wearing clothes you would classify as 'hippy'. it felt sort of weird as everyone was dressed as a hippy with long unwashed hair and dread locks and more things, whereas i was in jeans and a t-shirt with short hair (although unwashed hehe). what do you guys who live this alternate lifestyle think of us who come from the city, from society? i dont want to change the way i dress to fit in as i am comfortable in the clothes i wear. i dont want people to think because i am from the city i am like people from the city. psychedelics have drastically changed my views and these music events are the only place i feel i can find people who think like me. so do you guys think is a person like me from the city in jeans and a shirt ok?

that is about all. although i was worried about these things i managed to shrug them off and enjoy dancing the night away, because the overwhelming feeling of acceptance was too strong to impede on these worries. but i am new to these things and just want to make sure i am not intruding in a place i should not be. i go for the same reasons as everyone else, to get away from society, to a free place where psychedelic use is accepted and just spend the night dancing to awesome music, i love the vbes and feelings going around i love the people. i love the feeling of acceptance and likemindedness it is truly amazing and one of my favourite experiences ever. i wouild like to continue going i would rather not worry about these things and have a great experience.

so lend me your perspective and let me understand the thoughts of others on these things. it would rest my mind easy for the next event so i would not have to have these things stored in the back of my head. i would have a 100% perfect experience. i encourage everyone to attend these things the emotions and unison is amazing especially on psychedelics. if you have not tried dancing try it, it is truly amazing and the best of best ways to experience music.

and you seem to be pretty down
and i'm sure the older people there see that

i personally would love for a random stranger to come up to me at a festival or whatever. well, if he/she was cool anyway. but most at festivals and such are.

beautiful, man. feed your head, i know where your comin from. ive been to 2 festivals and both were great but i had some of the same feelings you describe. its just a little anxiety/paranoia. how did i take it? i didnt do so well. i really let it effect my experience. plus some shit with my gf that was stupid kept me from really letting go and really enjoying myself. but when i was able to, man theres no place id rather be. definitely keep goin back. next year you will feel right at home.

im heading to my first scwagstock the weekend after this one. just me and a couple of my buddies. no girlfriends, no wives, no co-lops! cell phones dont work there either. nothing to interupt 4 days of beautiful people, great music and an all around amazing experience. i like your story chubba. at my second festival my girlfriend didnt really like a lot of strangers, she kind of seemed like "umm hulloo? we're trying to have a relaxing weekend here, who are you?" i didnt really get to hang out with many people, i had to give her my undevided attention pretty much. but not this time. . . . sorry to ramble so much. peace

p.s. remember, feed your head, you are your worst critic. i try to remind myself that when i need to. and also remember to feed your head.

if you were annoying then they would have probably ignored you, or shunned you. the fact that you felt energy of unison rather than hostility is a good sign. they were probably just as happy to talk to you as you were to talk to them

i went to a doof dressed however the fuck i wanted, which was just pretty contemporary clothes. normal shirt, jacket, shorts, shoes i didn't by any means look hippie at all and I seemed to just fit in just fine.

I was getting approached by all sortsof wonderful strangers offering conversation, beer, friendliness, drugs and whatnot... had a blast

i find it sad that people believethey should 'attire' like a hippie to fit in to the doof scene

thing is, I'm trying not to get 'too deep' into it as i belive it would push my drug intake to the extreme, but it's awesome for therapeutic value and to cut loose when it comes around

ok i see thankyou for your input guys. i would never change the way i dress to fit in. i just didnt want people thinking i was like an average person from the city, because the average types of people in the city are the people i try NOT to be like. i suposed this is judges by how you act, judging by clothes wearing would be stupid and i probably shouldnt wory about people if they judge me by what i wear. i just loved the experience and loved the people.

i cannot wait to go to my next one hopefully this time i will not worry about what others think of me and just lt the waves of unison wash over me.

yeah, pretty much anything goes as long as you're not harming anyone/anything.

i love it when people come talk to me randomly, makes it so i don't have to go talk to random people!

how do you find out about these events? I feel so out of the loop here in Texas. The last gathering i went to was a rave in Dallas, Meltdown '07. I would love to find a true festival around here that lasted several days, and had that magical feeling to it.

Oh and dont be so critical of yourself. As the others have said already, those silly fears and doubts you have of being judged are only invisible shackles to inhibit you.

well in australia we use a website for aussie psytrance australiens.net well i do anyway

try googling american psytrance or something like that?

well i searched for American psytrance and then concluded i need to move.
At first i was typing in "Texas Music Festivals" and of course all i could turn up was country music festivals. Willy Nelson might be a pretty lit up show though. :bigjoint:

you must really be out of the loop. texas has a better psytrance scene than a lot of places.
