cake oreintation?

i was wondering, would it be alright to birth a cake and lay it on its side? i ask this because a friend of mine has seen very aggressive fruiting of a pr cake. most of the fruits came from the vermic. side (from the underneath side). it seems more surface area would be exposed to light and greater yields would result.

You can put it on it?s side if you want.
The most "natural" way to do it is vermiculite side down.
