Pan Cambo cropping problem???
    #730927 - 07/08/02 09:57 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

An observation was made on a rubbermade filled with 10lbs of cased and fruiting compost. Panaeolus Cambodginiensis
The MushMush inverted container method with air holes is being used.
It seems that only one corner or ~25% is fruiting agressively(2"-5" shrooms). The other 75% has pins and primordia and some small mushrooms here and there, but not the concentration that the agressive 25% portion has.
Also some of the pins and buttons are getting black/blue heads.

Would like to correct for any problems to allow the other 75% to have a decent flush.

What could be wrong? Air exchange? Temp? Too much moisture
The container is at room temp which varies from 72-84F

So the 25% portion is about ready to be harvested but the rest is not even close.

Should the 25% portion be harvested before the other 75% catches up?

I dont know much about cambos but did you use a multi spore innoc? also maybe that 75% is competing with a contam of some sort. But I would say yes pick that 25% when they're ready.

Yes, multi spore was used.
No visual signs of contams at least.
Smells like shrooms.

Did the mycelium penetrate the substrate/casing in the corner first?

No, the entire surface was colonized evenly at about the same time.
It only took 3 days for this to happen.
There are still, what looks like viable pins and primordia on the
portions that did not fruit, but they seem to have stalled.
Picked the blue black ones.

Don't know if the humidity should stay at 85% for the pins and mushrooms to develop or 95% to allow the primordia to develop.

is the rest of the casing to dry?

My pet lobster lives in a VERY dry place, this is great for contams, but he stalls alot of casings due to humidity issues, He has even had parts of casings stall while others had enough water. my opinion would be to increase humidity to 90% or so, my lobster actually fruits his at about 93% hunidity which is in total defiance of most teks i have read.

Best of luck to you.
