A Few Questions (Heh)

1. Is it possible (or ideal) to make a half-pint rye berry jar and then fruit it in a pf-cake style manner?

2. To case a colonized rye berry cake, what is the best method of breaking up the substrate to put in the casing mixture?

3. Should one sterilize the plastic casing pan before putting the sterilized mixture in it?

just go pf tek,it will contam it's been tried look around, the old hands will probablt recomend the pk tek as well gotta get ur feet wet

1. yes
2.your terminology is off. you will be using teh rye berries as a mean to spawn a substrate (coir and hpoo). then once colonized you will add a casing layer(non nutritous layer like peat moss or MGMC)
best way to do that is just take it out of teh jar and crumble it up and add to your substrate, then once colonized add your casing mixture
3.i dont know what you are asking for this one. the only mixture that can be sterilized is your casing mixture. sterilize your pa

So essentially the process is:

inoculate jars with spore syringe, let colonize.

After fully colonizing, mix colonized mycellium with what exactly?

Wait for that to colonize further, then add a 50/50+ casing mixture on top of it (depth) and pop it in the fruiting chamber.

Is this a correct assumption?

So I missed a step then..hmm..

I'm a little confused as to why in the 50/50+ casing tek it says to simply put casing mixture on bottom and top of the colonized cakes, incubate for a few days, then fruit.

You're saying there's a step I've missed and I need to first mix the colonized spawn with coco coir. How much then? Because I can't seem to find this step in any of the teks...I'm a little lost here.

Is it a required step to transfer the myc to dung/coco-coir, or can you go straight from rye berries->casing...I guess is what I'm trying to ask here.

Pretty sure you can just case your half-pint, but since it is such a small amount you might not get much or very big mushrooms. That is the reason to spawn (look this up) to the hpoo or coir or straw. After that colonizes then case and you will have a greater yield.

Never heard of putting casing material under your substrate, just on top.
