ZipLock Twist n' Lock Containers
    #7301848 - 08/16/07 06:01 PM (16 years, 7 months ago)

Anyone ever use a Ziplock Twist n' Lock container instead of canning jars?

I have seen it reccomended once and they said it was safe to use in a pressure cooker. There dirt cheap so its worth a try. I couldnt find canning jars so I hope this works.

I got one that was 4 cups (1 quart)

I've tried them but hadn't manage to get them to work all that well.

you should just use 8 ounce drinking glasses. You don't need canning jars. I'm sure they would work a lot better than those containers.

Thanks cupcake, that answers alot of questions for me, I will use it in addition to RR's youtube pftek videos. Seems like your link does put maybe too much emphasis on a setup to incubate, I read here that many say that any reasonably clean room temperature location is fine to incubate brf jars, am I wrong in assuming that? I was not planning on some double tub floating setup like in the tutorial you linked, although the rest was great in my opinion.

I don't grow but my friend doesn't plan on using anything like to incubate for his first grow  I just thought the pictures on the guide were very helpful and showed the Origina Poster how to use drinking glasses with aluminum.

I actually bought plastic freezer jars made by Ball to try them out sometime... They look fine and as long as they'll be okay in the pressure cooker, I don't see why they wouldn't work. lipan, what was the problem with the ziplocks? ...Because these seem like they're pretty much the same thing.

They are different types of plastic.
