dehydration may be a key factor... the myceliums worn out.. probably won't get another flush outa that cake. Try rehydrating it though (sit it directly on the perlite), who knows.. it might recover.

What is the reason for cakes getting dehydrated? Is it because they are ice cakes? Casing would be better?

Cakes turning blue after the first flush is perfectly normal. To get another flush, you must rehydrate the cake. Put some wet vermiculite in a small dish then take your cake and flip it over onto this verm. Now take some more wet verm and gently pack a thin layer of it on the top of the cake (the old bottom). About twice a day, GENTLY spray the top layer with your sprayer with the nozzle about an inch away so you don't spray the rest of the cake. Once you see primordia poking through, cease the direct spraying. Alot of the time, the cake turns back to it's normal white color by this time. The water absorbed by the cake from these top and botton layers of verm will usually give you a fairly decent 2nd flush.
