halloween/dry ice dilemma

Ok, so one of the girls i work with has a huge halloween party every year. Goes all out... I mean, she isnt goth, but still goes at it a little obsessive if you ask me....
but anyway, she is trying to figure out a way to keep the dry ice submerged in warm water constantly. Every year, she claims, the water turns to the temp of the dry ice in a few minutes, aquarium heaters freeze up....etc.
I was thinking of handwarmers, or an industrial version of handwarmers.....
but anyone have any ideas? other than some of the dry ice systems that cost 800 bucks out there?

Double Boiler / Incubator set up in some plastic tubs?

go to home depot, pick up two 5 gallon buckets,
fill one bucket with water, toss in a fish tank heater (probably want to compensate with a decent sized one), toss second bucket into it, toss water it and put dry ice in there.

Everyone's thinking of ways to heat the water. I don't think that can work without a way to regulate the temperature, and then it gets expensive. Without regulation, you'll either boil the water or it will freeze anyway.
Work the problem from the other end: just keep a constant drip of water onto block of dry ice and drain the runoff. Problem solved.

good point, we've done that over here with dry ice when we order meat from omaha. Just toss the blocks in the sink and figure out the rest lol.

that is what i told her to do, but she wants to keep it on the floor, and she wants the vapour to cover the floor of a pretty big apartment, so this chick gets about 100 lbs of dry ice every year.

if its in the sink, it'll create the vapor and it'll overflow off the counter onto the floor. Tell her to grab some dry ice soon and test it out and see what works.

I can't imagine 100lbs of melted dry ice is healthy for people who are... trying to breath.
CO2 can kill people too :P

Coke + unnaturally high levels of CO2 = awesome party. Tell her to get a tank of carbon monoxide and some PCP for the next party. People will love it!
