Favorite Smoke (Besides Cannabis/Tobacco)
    #7295512 - 08/14/07 09:03 PM (16 years, 8 months ago)

What's your favorite smoke besides cannabis and tobacco?

I like Blue Lotus and Lactuca v. "Lettuce Opium"...

I'm curious about "Indian Warrior" has anyone tried it?

What Else makes a good smoke?

arctostaphylos sp,

mostly uva-ursi, but arctostaphylos manzanita is good too.

damiana makes a great smoke.

california poppy flowers, dried and rolled into cigarettes are great tasting and relaxing.

I pick fresh lavender at the peak of its bloom, and dry it down to 30-40% moisture and then put it in mason jars to cure. After a few weeks I leave it out to turn bone dry, then I repeat the process until it finally comes out dry after a few days with the lid on.
I then throw some grapefruit, lime, or some sort of flavorful citrus peel into a plastic ziplock bag, and zip it shut, poke a few holes in the sides, and throw it in with the lavender.

The lavender absorbs the moisture and some flavor and smell from the citrus peels. The curing processing of airing out everyday then begins again for about 4 days, then the peels are discarded.

Makes some killer smoke
I sent some to a few member on this site before.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/4103941

turns out they enjoyed it too.
it turns out a bit spicey like cinnamon if you use the giant purple lavender.
im currently curing some white lavender with lime right this minute

mugwort can be toxic at really high doses, it contains small amounts of thujone. you can chew on the leaves to reduce fatigue. back in the day hikers would put fresh leaves in their socks to reduce soreness. it can be smoked or made into tea before sleep to induce vivid lucid dreaming or out of body experiences if deeply meditating.

dwarf scullcap is the best of all scullcaps, its the most potent, its very close to a marijuana high except you have more mental clarity, it induces euphoria comparable to a good bong hit or 2 of okay bud. closed eye visuals if you smoke enough.

indian warrior is a strong sedative, its almost but not really comparable to a low dose of opium. you get the nods if you smoke enough, it makes you wanna lay down and close your eyes. closed eye visuals if you smoke enough. VERY good sleep aid, if you smoke enough you'll pass out and wake up later wondering how you fell asleep. good for pain and aches, headaches, good to smoke when you get home from a hard days work.

klip dagga is very nice too, its kinda like dwarf scullcap except more comparable to marijuana.

sinicuichi makes a great smoke, it works for some people and doesn't for others. I find a greeeeat smoke is 1 part sinicuichi and 1 part marijuana. the sinicuichi takes away the confusion that weed gives, makes colors brighter, puts you in the best of moods, thoughts flow easily, its more or a floaty/dreamy type high.

add a pinch of nicotiana rustica to any blend makes a great smoke.

Blue Lotus from iamshaman.com if fucking great! Don't get the white tho...

Dagga resin is normally 10-25extract, which means it's up to 25 times stronger than normal leaf....

I have some of that...but don't find it to be that great

but Blue lotus kicks ass

So does lactuca virosa "lettuce opium"

Kinnick Kinnick! Very mellow, relaxing smoke. It's a native american smoking blend, used ceremonially... I love the stuff! I have a posting about it some where around here on the forum.
I've always wanted to try Blue Lotus! Damiana is nice so is Dagga flowers.
I'm about to try Lagochilus inebriens (Turkestan mint). Just waiting on the package to get here. I'll let you guys know how it works out for me.

yerba santa is hardly a stimulant. check my journal thread about it...

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7266158

no one said kinnick kinnick was particularly active, its actually a cure for numerous ailments.

there was a book that was published to the public, mushroom john posted it once on a few other sites, here it is...

i grow kinnick kinnick, and have lots of yerba santa dried for future use. both together, or both separate, neither shows any sort of altering or inebriating effect. Kinnick kinnick is quite smooth and pleasant to smoke though, and smoking on its own can be quite relaxing.

I really don't know but I doubt it does, if sage does have thujone its gonna be a very very small amount, people use sage to cook with all the time, you can buy it at a grocery store, I don't think a toxic herb would be in the market for the public.

Yes.
But thujone is not a hallucinogen and not pleasant. In high doses it will give you concentration problems and convulsions. Not nice.

no one said kinnick kinnick was particularly active, its actually a cure for numerous ailments.
i grow kinnick kinnick, and have lots of yerba santa dried for future use. both together, or both separate, neither shows any sort of altering or inebriating effect. Kinnick kinnick is quite smooth and pleasant to smoke though, and smoking on its own can be quite relaxing.

I beg to differ, every time I've smoked Kinnick Kinnick I get a mild hypnotic/sedative like effect. It last a good while too, then kind of tapers off into lethargy. Sometimes it leaves me with a very slight headache. Even with this side effect I still enjoy it thoroughly... I'll dig up my post about it and paste a link in this thread.

Edit:
Kinnick Kinnick (A Native American Smoking Blend)

Apparently Red Willow bark is responsible for the calming effect I feel when smoking Kinnick Kinnick.

im referring to uvaursi, the actual plant named kinnick kinnick, this plant does not produce hypnotic effects when smoked alone. ive smoked large amounts of this plant

the blend of materials called kinnick kinnick does produce something relaxing, but its nothing profound, and I dont think uva-ursi has anything to do with the blends activity. I would look more into the root or bark for the sedatives.

remember, all kinnick kinnick means is "good to smoke:
native americans referred to over 30 plants as "kinnick kinnick"
seems to throw confusion into the mix like skittles on pizza.

mullein is also a hypnotic when smoked.

I was referring to the blend not the plant. Apparently, Red Willow Bark is the culprit here, it is said to calm you.

I posted this peviously:
I'm about to try Lagochilus inebriens (Turkestan mint). Just waiting on the package to get here. I'll let you guys know how it works out for me.

Well, the package arrived.
First, I ground the flowers in a coffee grinder, then rolled a cigarette sized joint of the Lagochilus.
Pretty harsh on the throat! Reminded me of the flavor of Salvia.
Within 5 to 10 min. I felt a mild, lazy, relaxed feeling. Not a pronounced feeling but noticeable in every way.
So, then I decided to brew a tea. I ground some more material, just enough to fill a tea strainer spoon. I boiled distilled water in a tea pot. This was poured over the tea strainer spoon in a larger coffee cup, which I allowed to steep for 10 min.
**(Whilst pouring the water into the cup I noticed a very slight visual distortion in the steam billowing from the coffee mug; something like an after image [like a negative] of the lines of text from the computer monitor I was viewing prior to smoking. I noticed this long after viewing the monitor, approximately 10 min.)**
I sweetened the tea with Stevia. The flavor was quite bitter, but not unbearable... Reminded me of grapefruit, probably would have been a lot more pronounced if I would not have added the Stevia.
The tea brought on more of a sedate, relaxation. A deliciously lazy lethargy...
Also, I have been having problems with my stomach lately. Painful sensations in my lower gut. The tea soothed this pain. Which has been occurring off and on for roughly 3 weeks now.
I think this material will be saved for rough days and stomach problems, not to be used nonchalantly, just to catch a buzz.
All in all, was a pleasant experience. There was no noticeable euphoria. I think it would do well as a mild stress reliever or a tonic for stomach aches.

i also do this everytime i smoke bud because it inhances it like a charm.

i cure my kilp dagga with some fresh lavender so it tastes a little better.
