i just order 150+ heimia salicifolia seeds. plan on growing quite a few of them. i read on here how easy they are to germinate and everything. just wondering how long they take to sprout?
it sucks they take so long to grow, but oh well, im in it for the long hall.

About a week, sometimes less. Keep them in high humidity till they have sprouted. Favorable sprouting temps are 70F-74F.

they are only slow for the first year, in-fact they sprout up right away to about 4-6 inches. After the first year however, their root system bolts and they grow about 1.5ft every year. Quite a fast plant and can be harvested from at all different ages, in-fact there's a guide with the alkaloid contents of differing ages of heimia plants found here http://www.shaman-australis.com/~auxin/heimia.html good explanation of the alkaloids there too.
they are very easy to sprout, and if you can get them past their first year, they should be as easy as pie.
please visit my thread here https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7082095#7082095
and heres some more pics to accompany the link i just gave you.

by the way, their root system is like this
leafs ][ r o o o o o o o o t s
thats actual size if held up to the screen 1-2 weeks after sprout. they are easy to transplant as long as you don't break the root, all the ones I accidentally broke died.
good luck, happy grows. CG

sow a bunch of seeds in the same pot, maybe 20 or so, let them get about 6 inches tall and top all the stems, let them grow back to about 7 inches and top again, let grow back to 8 inches and top again... keep doing this and you'll have a huuuge heimia bush with tons of branches and leaves. you can get 10 times the amount of dry weight off a 1 year old compared to a 1 year old that hasn't been topped at all.
this is personal experience.

the place on a stem of the plant where the leafs come out, is usually called a node. from this spot, most plants store and direct energy. It's also a place where new growth can emerge.
If you cut a branch back just above a set of leafs on the stem, right where the leafs petiole joins to the node, a new shoot shall emerge.

Once they are established, they can be cloned by dividing the root mass. It won't hurt them... Remove them from their pots/the ground; don't handle them with kid gloves. Just take a shovel, hedge trimmers or whatever you have and hack it apart, then re-pot/re-plant them; keep them watered for a few weeks and viola! 2 or more clones per plant! They are very tough plants so don't worry about killing them when you hack the root mass in half (or whatever portion you decide on).

Yeah! You take a well established Hemia (a few years old). Remove it from it's growing media, i.e. pot or the ground. Shake the soil from the root mass. Take a shovel or hedge trimmers (whatever you may have). Hack the whole plant in half (of course this will be done at the root mass). If your plant is large enough you could divide it more than once. Once the plant is divided take the 2 halves and re-pot or re-plant them. Give them plenty of water for a few weeks and they will thrive! This is the easiest way to clone Hemias. Really very simple to do, a bit of a physical work out though. They are very tough, don't worry about hurting them.

imagine 20plants all growing from the same spot in the soil, with their own root systems and all, they are just tangled together so they need to be snipped apart by the roots... he means cut the roots vertically to separate individual stems that are emerging from the soil with their own root systems. if you dont understand i could do a ghetto paint demonstration lol

Good advice from everyone so far and I would only add one thing. I believe the seeds require light to germinate, so don't try to cover them.
