Why do you think they sent him to live with you for the summer? Your pleasure? His? Not likely. If I had to guess, they can't deal with him and are hoping that you will be able to straighten him out.
This is exactly what the issue is. I tried talking to the kid but since the whole mj incident, I don't want anything to do with him. He's rude. He's selfish. He's ignorant the list could go on all night.
It blows my mind. My wife also has an older cousin with two kids age 12 and 14. I love having the two of them over. They are polite. They clean up after themselves. (something dipshit still has to learn) And they are interested in life. They ask questions. They like to play games that aren't electronic. I have a feeling that dipshit is a lost cause. I sure as hell don't want to take the time to straighten him out, he's just not worth it.
I also don't consider myself an irrational person. It takes a lot to push me over the edge. Especially since I'm a laid back stoner. This kid just rubs me the wrong way. Thank god he goes home tomorrow. I told his mom (my sister-in-law) that he'd better not be back up here next year. He needs to get a job and learn the real value of money. He needs to learn responsibility. HE NEEDS TO GROW UP.
Thank you all for letting me bitch. It helps.

TrippinDad. The kid needs to be treated like a dog. Rub his face in his soil. Literally if you have to. Make him learn. Obviously his parents are going to let you rough him up. You're his 'uncle'. Be an uncle, beat the fuck outa him and tell him to treat his parents right and grow up as a good adult. It's your job. his parents obviously can't.

Don't take this the wrong way, as it is in no way pertaining to your character, but... How old are you?

At 25 you've probably seen and been through too much to have to deal with that little shit. Ultimatum time; either he gets his shit together in a major way or you send his ass packing with some bruises to show off to his friends back home.
That's what I'd do anyway...
