I've never had any difficulty in getting a plant to bud. A plant will automatically flower once the light cycle is changed to 12/12.
Haze(s) are difficult to actually grow. Also, Sativas, such as haze (100% sativa) get very tall, often around 10 feet tall or larger. It isn't easy to control and/or conceal a monster like that, especially if you're thinking of growing indoors.
Anyway, you're going to need a bit of experience before you know exactly what a Cannabis plant needs and when it needs it. Some plants are more able to find homeostasis in less-than-perfect conditions. Others, however, are extremely sensitive to their conditions.
For example, some strains may be able to take a little bit of over-watering here and there. For others, even one over-watering can easily kill the strain (especially during early stages of growth).
The point is, start with an easy strain. I'd suggest starting with a type of skunk as they are fairly hardy with good potency and yield.

i agree. haze finished flowering in like, 11 weeks, its crazy.

yes i am sure. theres no question. some people have experimented and gotten sort of a second 'flush' out of the plants, but its hard to do and not worth the effort.
the trichomes dont have anything to do with reproduction. sometimes the plant goes thru two or three phases of flowering where they grow more and more buds, (i almost wanna say SSxJF does this but im not totally sure, i cant remember exactly the strain) and thats cuz they think itll increase chances of polination but 'crystals'(which are by no means in any way a crystal, no plant produces or can produce crystals) are to keep away bugs and guard against UV light. some people say its too keep away predators but if youve ever lost a crop to deer you know that animals love to get high lol. also cannabis is rediculously nutritious and the animals know that somehow. also i heard if you cut a piece off a flowering plant as a clone, often time the clone grows flowering since it was flowering when it was cut. If a plant dies, then why do they have some huge plants? do they grow that fast? and if one is growing slow, is it unhealthy, or a bad strain? peace
i duno about the flowering clone, i guess its possible, but whos dumb enough to cut a clone while their plant is in flower? as for the huge plants, yes, they DEFINATLY grow that fast. some sativas in central and south america have been recorded at up to 15 feet(youd need a ladder to harvest!!) plants can grow up to an inch or more a day i think. a slow growing plant is bad in veg, but in flower indicas dont grow vertically much if at all. sativas reach for the sky before they grow their baseball bat colas, indicas just get fat buds

Do your self a favour and get at the least 3 good grow books and read and digest them.
From there you can formulate a grow plan and list any questions you may have.

I've tried purp before, didn't really like it. It was just a major downer. But it looked, smelled, and tasted wonderful.
Maui Wowi is supposed to be killer though

hahaha purp? which purp exactly? purple haze is extinct but maybe your an old head from the 60s who had it. but that shit was a crazy sativa so it wasnt a downer at all. was it grand daddy purp or purple power plant or what? alot of purple plants are indica. which is a downer couch lock stoney feeling. so that makes sense. also alot of purple plants arent the most potent thing, theyre just held on a pedistal cuz of the color

dude, your serious? they die? the growth time is cool, so if i plant a plant, a month a half before flowering begins, there's still a good chance i could get a good crop before the end of the season? in that case, the art of growing good pot, is to get it to bud as good as possible the first time? because it dies the next year? so to keep a crop growing then you HAVE to clone it right? peace

imachavel, your makin it tooo complicated, when i grow nug its as easy as this, water the seed and it grows, the only 1/2 tricky thing is ID'ing it.

Yeah, cannabis is an annual plant. The plant is usually killed when you harvest. You're going to have to either clone it or have a female pollinated so that it makes seeds that you can plant next year. I'd suggest cloning it.

There is a technique in which you can switch it back to 24 hrs just so long as you leave some bud and branches on it.

your gettin it now. the plant dies when you harvest, and if you dont harvest the thc will decompose after a certain point and then youll get another chemical, starts with a G but i cant remember the name...if you just never harvest it will die because of the cold and its totally out of energy so it cant really survive any more. and i know you said something about cloning while in flower to have it go to flower immediatly, do NOT do that with your plants. a clone has to root first and that would fuck up the flowering cycle. so only clone when its in veg.

yeah, i didn't figure it was harder than growing roses. that's why i keep skipping on the cannabis botany guides, they're mostly indoor and condition type guides, i'm doing outdoors so the condition varies.
I'm more interested in, let's say, a page of good flowering plants as a hobby, every plant needs different sunlight, different water, and different nutrients, this varies, mostly the plants vary in sun, as in, some can't get too much sunlight, some don't get enough, ones that don't get enough usually don't grow well but still grow. In some cases like cacti you overwater the plant and it dies, in the north overwatering can be a big dilemma, but that's alright i live in a tropical region. So, someone was saying, growing tomatoes can give you big hints on if you're a good pot grower or not? what about citrus trees? that seems similar, you have to get the tree to grow really well before it fruits, plus the fruits need to start early, if they don't ripen enough, and you have a really good tree, they'll still be green, they can smell like some of the best oranges ever, but they won't be ripe and they'll taste like shit.
mostly what i was wondering, was a guide to strains, how they evolve, why they get better, how to observe climatic differences in plants, etc. i don't know, all that's pointless, i'm not starting a farm. peace

There most likely isn't a "guide" for any particular strain. The only way to learn is by personal experience or researching the genetics yourself. Tell me a little about what kind of plant you want and I can try and help you narrow your list down. Under what conditions will you be growing (outdoor, indoor, etc.)? Are you looking for a more compact, bushy plant, or are you thinking of going for a taller, lankier plant? What would you like the high to be like? Would you prefer something more cerebral with a "stimulant" type quality to the high, or would you prefer something more sedative and narcotic? All of these questions will help narrow down the search for the perfect genetics that fit you and help you obtain the kind of bud that you would deem ideal. Anything you think that might be important, just list it.

actually, i was thinking of trying to understand how to grow my favorite strains, g-13, maple leaf indica, train wreck, juicy fruit, jock horror, hindu kush, big bud, etc. and seeing the grow difficulty list, to know if i could do it outdoors. and feasable, i want to grow some good shit, but i don't know which ones really do good when you put them outside, and bud well, and which ones bud well, but only if your a master. I want to do really good.
i've heard the better strains are harder to grow, but then i've heard lesser strains are easier to grow well. Does this mean, that without much growing experience, if i grew a very potent strain, and a lesser potent one, the lesser potent one might come out better?
also, i'm not just thinking of short term, i want to know which plant is good for growing AND cloning, which ones will grow good at first, and better when cloned, instead of lousy at first, and better when cloned, or well at first, and lesser when cloned, OUTDOORS.
they give hints on those websites, but i don't know if that fully explains it.
i was wondering if there was a site that fully explained the growth optimum. I think g-13 or maple leaf indica if my favorite, but i don't know about grow difficulty.
also, my freinds favorite is juicy fruit, but i don't know of it's grow difficulty. would it be easier to grow bubbleicious and skunk, and put them together and smoke them at the same to get that juicy flavor and feel? because of growing conditions?
you know, i want the best, but i want to start with the basics, grow something real good, when i master it, move up. I know there's strains master growers get real good, but for the ametuer, what will i profit from if i put in hard work and time. You know? i just want to appreciate my plant. peace
