Ipomoea indica
    #7281672 - 08/10/07 02:39 PM (16 years, 5 months ago)

Those plants were Ipomoea indica (Morning Glory) (Not the milkweed, the one that the other people said were morning glory) and i found out i got over 100 morning glory vines in my yard, I just found a dead one with a bunch of seedpods, only got 6 seeds, but theres sprouts everywhere on the ground. The seeds are like mini HBWRS .

Theres one doin a ground cover

Man, Ipomoea indica can't get you high, you need some Ipomoea violacea. These types of plants u can buy at your local Gardening store there called Heavenly Blue, or Pearly Gates.

Just so ya know

I just bought a pack of Ipomoea purpurea 'Grandpa Ott's' at walmart, and the bag says not to ingest :thumbup:. Im gonin to have a growlog of like 7-10 vines takin over the tree, my rivea hasnt came in yet, il probably let the rivea grow with the morning glorys on the tree if it can.

Do rivea and mg's die in winter times (florida reaches 40s in winters rarely 30fs)

Many varieties contain LSA but only a few have substantial amounts, ie. Heavenly Blue, Pearly Gates, and Flying Saucers. Just cause they say not for human consumption, that doesn't mean they'll do anything to you besides make you sick.

I'm almost certain 40s would kill MGs. I don't know about Rivea but it seems they would die as well.

Heavenly Blue, Pearly Gates, Flying Saucers... and there was one other... I think they're called Wedding Bells, or something like that?

I believe there is a debate as to whether crimson ramblers work.

But yeah, you want Ipomoea Violacea, also known as "Ipomoea Tricolor."

I have tried all of the above (minus wedding bells, and I have only taken ramblers mixed with heavenly blue) and I prefer heavenly blue to anything else.

As far as the plants surviving in winter... I'm not so sure about that, even in Florida. Hey, give it a try and let us know.

Yeah, Wedding Bells and Blue Stars. You want Ipomoea violacea/Ipomoea tricolor, not Ipomoea purpurea.

that family is also very large and there are lots of "morning glories" with purple-blue flowers...some of the members in this group are toxic...be careful.

Don't seed companies put chemicals on their seeds so they'll get you sick if you try and ingest them? I'd guess you're best off growing the Heavenly Blues yourself instead of ingesting seeds from Wal-Mart.

What's the idea behind the fungicides?

I have never found MG seeds with fungicides on them. But it is something to look out for just in case I guess. Fungicides are sometimes used on seeds susceptible to mold. If it doesn't specifically say on the packet that they were treated, then they're clean.

If you eat MG seeds and get sick to the stomach, 90% chance it's just natural. They taste bad and you need a bunch of them.
