ok a little update, i while back i decided to inoc my grain bag with a known viable syringe, and it has grown, but some of the grain now seems to dry at the top, the bottom is still moist, im gonna try shaking the bag up do distrubute the moisture, if that fails, then all i can doo is cut it open and add the sterilised moist verm casing layer close it back up and wait for it to pop thru and hope its does not contam.

Im gonna get another 1 at some point as they r easy and can produce decent yeilds, this will give me a backup while i continue with my pf tek and hopefully next while i progress to grains (pressure cooker on the way)

all my first attempt is binned now and ive started fresh im gonna inoculate 4 glasses at 3 o'clock today and another tommorow ive got sent amazonian spores which was supposed to be cams but they are supposed to be of a similar nature !!
have you birthed any cakes yet ???

the first bag?!?
im not sure veda, maybe it was too wet.
in that whole time i was able to get 4 wbs pints grown , 5 pf teks, and 5 fruited.
maybe you will get a lucky break though

yeah, its been that long as the syringe that was used didnt seem to contain any spores, i re inoced the bag with a good one. Its obviously dried out as it has been sitting for so long.

I have now used a spores101 and it has actually been cheeper to get 3 syringes delivered to me than to get it from within the uk from ab obviously dodgy company.

On the plus side, i have 4 brf cakes in my FC that have just been dunked.

cool thats good news i received my spores two days ago from www.potseeds.co.uk there seemed to be loads of spores but they sent amazonian rather than cambodian but wtf, ive done four brf and verm and gonna do another three in an hour or so.
so its all go again seemed like an age since i started that first bag that i aborted. :zoom:
so you should have pinning soon then ??

the 2 on the left are half pint cakes, - ecuador and the 2 on the right are slightly bigger than half pint same strain.

The bottom right cake i had to cut part of it of as it had stalled, and discovered that it was the same in the middle, but has colinised after dunking :smile:

Its been 1 day now since birthing (except the top left cake which i never dunked 5 days ago and decided i should dunk it before it pins)

I dont think u can mention on shroomery sponsors here.

Get ur spores from spores101, u can get 3 syringes for the same price of what u would pay for 1 from a uk company (and from my experience of uk companys, there very unreliable) and this includes delivery, $45 dollars for 3 syringes including delivery. I doubt my growbag is gonna fruit. I may try spawning it to abulk substrate to atleast try and salvage it.

anyways. 4 of my cakes after being dunked, i didnt roll in verm yet, i want to do a personal comparison between dunking only and dunking and rolling.

I used the pf tek method, not sure what tek though, i read them all, though all of them give same recipe, 1 cup verm 1/2 brf 1/2 cup water.

Its pretty easy to do, pressure cooking is not essential but recommend the use of a PC even witht he pf tek if u have one.

I have another batch of jars waiting to germinate and colinise, then im moving to grains. I have some popcorn soaking at the moment, going to simmer them for an hour when i get home then pressure cook.

only time will tell, i hope soo. ive put quite a bit of effort into those. As long as i get 1 flush i will be happy,if i get any more then i will be more than pleased.

When the first flush is done, im gonna clean out the fc while the cakes are dunking, bake the perlite so its nice n fresh. Hopefully buuy then i will have some h202 aswell.

you don't need the h2o2 unless you have cobweb.

h2o2 readily carbolizes into h2o in about 2 hours.

If you JUST put those in the FC,

don't get nervous if you don't see any activity for about 2 weeks.

especially if you birthed as soon as it was 100%.
I like letting things get 100%, then 1 week later birth, they pin in 5 days after that.

ur right, i remember reading about that last month.

Well i have been giving them as much fae as i can, 1 fanning when i get in from work and misting, then once again before i go to bed, then once when i get up and once before i leave for work.

I just checked and i think im getting some knotting happening!!! also i spotted a very thin stick of mycelium poking out the side of my cake, its about half a centre metre long and very thin!!! could this be my first pin!!!

I think its coming along nicely now.

My koh samua jar is coming on nicely and should be 100% in a few days, which i will leave another 5 after that, then dunk n roll.

I have 4 strains at the moment (2 of which i havnt used yet) so i plan on taking spore prints. And also have a go at cloning using either honey water or the brf version of agar.

I think i will lean towards honey water as i have succesfully had 1 lc from that.

Also i have 2 jars of popcorn in the pressure cooker. that will be for another thread though.

fecker, 1 of my recent pf jars had got blue mold!!!!

time to make a glovebox, bleaching the crap out of my kitchen and spraying antibacterial air spray doesnt seem to be working for me. The last batch i got 3 contamed jars out of 3 and thought it was becuase i didnt have a pressure cooker at the time!

I just fanned out my FC and gave it a misting to notice that on the very first cake that had been birthed now has 5 pins on 1 side, there growing from the bottom which is a bit of a fucker but i dont care, i have pins!!!!!!

I just hope some more pop up over the next day!!!

Soon the other 3 cakes should start pinning soon.

ive lost 4 so far to contamination, a batch of 4 jars, 3 blue/green mold, then i recently made 3 jars 1 got blue/green mold.

Time to start using a glovebox. Just need to find the big box i was gonna use for it.

Couldnt believe how quick the pins popped up, they were not there last night and i get up 2day and theres 5 inch long pins with brown heads :smile:

I think 1 might have aborted, the head looks a bit dark and it looks a bit wrinkled. Need to put fresh batteries in the camera and ill get photo up.

i made a glove box from a real big clear storage box and ive got two next size down ones for fc s ive only got holes in my gb tho not got arms/gloves on it but so far so good ive got clean growth i also used loads of 70% rubbing alcohol too :thumbup:

I just had a thought, When i done my first batch i would take a shower before inoculating, put on a dust mask, put on disposable gloves that i wiped with alcohol, and i would also wipe the lid of the jar with alcohole before and after inocing.

I havnt done this on the last 2 batchs, but im still gonna make a glovebox, really want to start a clone of my first batch.

I have a jar incubating at the moment, that has a nice 3 inch circle of really rhyzo mycelium, i think i will attempt to extract some of that to start a liquid culture by using a syringe that has been sterilised, sticking into the jar and incject some water, suck it back up before i birth the cake.

If i can isolate that growth i will hopefully end up with a jar that has mostly rhyzo growth and hopefully better fruiting :smile:

that sounds like a fair idea is that cloning then when you isolate myc and take a sample syringe to make a lc , its great to be learning all the time i was thinking along similar lines only i was thinking of taking some myc on birthing just a little and adding it to a baby bottle tek and growing it on not sure if it will work but its worth a go i suppose if it fails ive learnt either way its just it seems i would get more lc this way ,, what do you think ?
