is this idea working?

hello there...
at my third attempt, i actually have mycelium on my cakes <-happiness this probably means that i actually had no sterilization problems in my previous attempts, but the water was too much on the jars. the 50-50 didnt work for me. The cakes though, r a different story. My newly cakes are on day 4 now and are almost full...
[prayers to xochipilli for their good growth were deleted from the post] lol
well, i was thinking, if everything go alright, can i get a piece of the cake and put it in a jar which has rye grains soaked for 12 hrs into a solution of hydroxen peroxide (H2O2) ? theoritically, h2o2 kills contaminants and mushroom spores, but not mycelium itself. in this way, can i expect a jar full of mycelium? Will this jar be strong enough to produce respectful crop?
thanx
i am happy... THANX GUYS ! Kykeon athens, greece

if i understood u right - i did that. stick to steralizing.
what i did: took a colonized cake and crumbled it in the blendet to powder with h2o2. i then mixed the mud with some un colonized vermrfwater andput it in jars. i thoght the speed of colonization will take in befor any contam will be able to take place.
after 4 days the 4 jars were 100% colonized. the pics will tell it all.
the pics:
a few days after been taken outa the jars. all the cakes looked like this for some reason...
cake #1 (mmm... juicy)
cake #2 , it seems ok, but i wont touch the shrooms being from the same terranium of cake #1. life is like a contamed terranium , unever know what your gonna find inside.
the other 2 cakes i gave away and i dont realy know what heppend to them.
the cake that DID pruduce shrooms (it took about 3 weeks after taking it outa the jar) prduced very little shrooms and only a few.
h2o2 only kills some molds and fangus spoers , and therse also bacteria to worry about. stick ot heat.

Waht you want todo is sterilize the grain first. Yuo also want to put just that piece of mycelium in the H2O2 solution. then transfer the mycelium to the grain. That sould work great for you.

actually those two cakes were fallouts of my expriment for no steralizaion techniqie i was naive enough to think will work. i was too lazy to clean the box with the fallouts so i just decided to let it grow see what happens with these marvouls results.
that healthy cake aint realy healthy .

hi...
My theory was to take rye grains and soak them for some hours into H2O2 until the grains are big enough, which means they have absorbed the solution. Those grains will be very resistant to contaminants. Then, take a piece of mycelium from a mycelium syringe or from a cake and put it in the jar with the h2o2grains. Put some alu foil on top [or for better, close the jar, as the h202 is disposed by mycelium into water and oxygen, so there is no need for outside breathing?????] and wait until the mycelium expands into the whole jar. Then, standard casing procedures will be followed.
Or perhaps, as L3D says, i should sterilize the grains first - and then add some peroxide ? dunno...

DIFINITELY you will have to sterilize the grain first by pressure cooking it !

Anno, your sayings seem logical, but that guy who made this patent and sells the bookz, says he cultivates mainly oysters on wood and that if he uses wood pellets instead of plain wood there is no need of sterilization at all. He also says that sterilization of wood is needed not because of contaminants but because wood contains enzymes that destroy h2o2.
dunno, i havent bought his bookz, maybe he is another maniac like the other who cultivates on soil + coffee beans, remember? lol
Anno, I am so happy that i finally have healthy mycelium on my jar-cakes!!!! thanx for the help so far!!!!!!!

I had that shit yesterday, my cake looked ok, but smelt very earthy. So I cut it open and it was a mucky brown red colour so wap into the bin. No more cakes for me ever again. Silly cakes. I`ve cased and I have 2 cakes pushing shrooms out today, so why on earth would someone want to use cakes???
So much opportunity for error.

I have both books, and they are really usefull.
Don?t forget: wood is NOT rye. What works for wood sterilisation wise doesn?t necessarily work for rye.

The grains could have bacteria deep inside the shell, just soaking isn't enough. A PC is definatly wanted here.

Anno, have u tried to use his method on cultivating wood-loving psilocybe species?
Frog31337, i know u r right. btw: i just ended the most silly and weird thing... trying to save a contaminated jar. If there is any good newz, i will let them be posted...
thanx guyz

Yes, I used it both for spawn for P. azurescens as for Pl. djamor substrate preparation.
