somehow condensation drippped down onto one of my cakes, and i didn't notice it. thank god not on the others. it made some kidna yellow liquid on the top of the cake, anybody have an idea what it is? i took a tissue and blotted it off, but still. it smelled and looked like piss, although i know i didn't piss on my cakes. i am just wondering if it is contamination, or stagnated water that durned nasty when pooled w/ the mycelium. any input??

Well it's kinda hard to tell w/out a picture. But sometimes when mycelium is growing on a high nutrient substrate, it tens to get yellowish waste puddles on top. Kinda like piss in fact, so you could be sorta half right bout that piss thing.

what you have there is in fact the closest thing there is to mushroom piss. what you have done about it should work. some people including myself mist their cakes or trays with water that contains one part hydrogen peroxide in about nine of water. this tends to reduce contamns. you should find a way to reduce humidity, however, because if this condition persists, you will be disappointed with the results. think about it, would you flourish and make lots of babies if you had to swim around in your own waste products?

at lower moisture levels, mushrooms keep their piss to themselves. dunking between flushes may disolve away and dilute these waste products and may be responsable for why dunked cakes suddenly jump back into production.
