alternative to filters

instead of filter discs i use domestos hygienc wipes. double the wipe and place it on the mouth of the jar. they seem to be working fine + they have desinfecting solution in them that will kill any airborne germ or mold
and they are cheap ,3 usd for pacage of 40

imho, u should stick with the lids that come with the jars but use the circle shaped coffee filters in between the lid and the band. that way u won't have to use tape to cover innoculation holes and u get good air circulation
