no we couldnt, thats my point.

there are plenty of other players who have used roids over the past years and they havent set the homerun record.

regardless of whether or not he cheated, he accomplished something.

the only props I give Bonds, or anyone who breaks a long standing record, is the determination and devotion it takes to honing and perfecting a technique or skill.

I garauntee you that if i spent my entire life, from diapers to my 40's eating, sleeping, and doing baseball non-stop, then doped myself up and built up the appropriate muscles with steriods.... I could eventually hit 756 in-game homeruns.

in the next 20 years this record will be beaten so often it wont be considered a "feat" to hit 700+ career homeruns. A-rod will beat bonds record, someone will beat a-rods record, so forth and so on.

The reason I hold Hank Aaron in such high esteem is that he did surpass his abilities.... it was a superhuman feat.
To me, Bonds is just like one of those guys that can ride a unicycle, juggle and stack bowls on his head by tossing them with his feet.

I would put money on the fact that the home run record is only broken once in the next 20 years. Baseball isn't about having huge biceps, either. Barry Bonds had a tremendous about of ability when he first started and further enhanced his ability by taking steroids. We could all have 25 inch arms and none of us could hit a home run during batting practice.
