I don't want to get invovled in any complicated/expensive setups for now. Also, I am availible to fan the terrarium anyway.
Day 31 - Alright, so I birthed the rest of the cakes that were still in jars (4 of them) and put them in a terrarium. I am using perlite to keep the humidity up.
The casings were showing some growth, so I patched them. I think I may have made the casing layer I little too thick. The cakes that were only cut in half have showen growth, however, the crumbled cakes show slower/less growth. I will probably put those in the terrarium in the next few days.
Does anyone know how long before a start seeing some shrooms? I'm guessing 1-2 weeks, from what I've read.

Day 32 - Today my room mate found the shrooms growing under my bed. To say the least he was not happy, and I had to abort the indoor growing and go strait to and outdoor procedure. I took all the casing and cakes and threw them in the woods outside and put a clear plastic container over it all in hopes that it would raise the humidity. I don't know much about outdoor growing, but I am doing research now. I want to salvage what I've got so far. Any tips would be greatly appriciated.

Well, I argued with him for a while, but it's his house so there wasn't much I could do.
Day 34 - I found a good outdoor tek at http://www.thehawkseye.com/outdoortek.html. So, I went into the woods and dug out a hole about 2 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 8 inches deep. I filled the bottom of the hole with a layer of perlite. Then I put a layer of 50/50 mix on top of that. Then I took the already made casing out of the tin baking pans they were in and put them on top along with the other 4 cakes which I broke up a little. Then I put a very thin layer of 50/50 on top of that. I put some more perlite around the edges of all this and covered it will a big clear plastic container.
I did this yesterday actually, and I went back just now and checked and I can see lots of growth already. I don't think that the fungus was harmed much after moving them outside. The only problem I have with my set up is temperature. When they were placed in the terrarium indoors, I had an airconditioner to lower the temperature to about 70-72 degrees. Now, is 90 degrees outside. I checked the weather and it said it is supposed to rain tommorow and the next day, and that the temperature will drop to the lower 80s. I am just worried that they will have a hard time fruiting in the heat.
Does anyone know if there is a way I can lower the temperature inside the tupperware container? Maybe I could leave a container full of ice or something under the container??? I am not too worried though, because I saw lots of growth.

Day 36 - The patch shows lots of growth. Patches of mycelium are showing up everywhere. It has rained the last 2 days so I think that will promote some fruiting to begin. No signs of pins yet though. Whatever few pins that were there before I moved them outside got damaged in the move. I think I will still get a decent crop.
Now that I moved them outside, it is a lot easier to mantain the proper environment. I am quite pleased with the rate that the mycelium is recovering.

Day 38 - It looks like the mycelium has stopped growing. Maybe it just hasn't grown much. It has been really how the last few days, so maybe the heat is causing slower growth. Has anyone had their outdoor patch ruined by excessive heat? If so, how long did it take and how hot was it? I sprayed it with extra water to try and make sure it was cool and moist.
I guess I'll just wait and see if anything pops up within the next week or 2.

Day 40 - WOW. That is all I have to say. 2 days ago when I checked the site there was nothing there. It even looked as though the mycelium had slowed growth. I checked it this morning and I saw TONS a baby mushies. I didn't count them, but there were probably 40-50 of them. Really dark brownish/redish heads. I took some pictures but haven't gotten a chance to put them on my computer yet. I will tomorrow. I am really excited.

Ok, I just harvested a little over 40 grams wet. I ate about 25 grams wet about 30 minutes ago. I will let you know how it goes.

Well, if you want to get technical about it, that "room mate" is my father. Also, I am only 17, so I still depend on him, and to me it's just easier to let things go.
But in other news... the trip was fun. I've only done shrooms 3 times including this time. The first time I did it I ate 3.7 grams dry. They didn't taste "bad" really. They tasted kind of moldy. I ate them with peanutbutter and bread.That was my strongest trip. Lots of visuals (patterns, colors, you know). The second time I did it they smelled like shit. They also tasted like shit. I ate 2 grams dry on peanutbutter and bread. An hour after eating those 2 grams I wanted to "upgrade" my trip so I tried to eat 2 more grams, but I ended up puking because they tasted so much like shit. When I dosed today, I ate about 25 grams wet. The biggest mushroom weighed 14 grams wet.
There are still lots of mushrooms in the patch, so I will keep you guys updated with the total harvest and what-not.

Here are the boomers a couple days before they were picked. This is at their grow spot in the woods.
Here?s the first batch drying. I am going to dry them for a day or 2 in front of a fan, and then finish them in a desiccant chamber.
Anyway, those are from the first batch. I ended up picking more later that night, but I didn?t take more pictures. After I pick them all and dry them I will post the total weights and what-not.

I fail to understand why people attempt shit in their parents home. Unless of course people have extremely cool parents of course. It just wouldn't be worth the risk to me to try pulling that shit.
But good grow though man. What general geographic area are you from? Those mushies look really healthy outdoors. Glad your endeavor pulled through and you were able to salvage the operation.

Well, I dried the first flush. The total dry weight was 19.5 grams. This is not inclusing the first few shrooms that my buddy and I ate. This seems kind of weak. I expected I would get at least an ounce. They shrunk A LOT after they were dried. I am kind of dissapointed because this is not as much as I thought I would get. How does this compare to everyone else's first flush?
On a good note, however, I sprayed mushroom patch with a bunch of water after I had picked all the mushrooms. I checked back today and there is a lot of mycelium growth all over the places where I picked the mushrooms. Hopefully I will get a decent second flush. My friend told me that with each flush, you get 25% less mushrooms than the last. I don't think this is very accurate however because I've read that most people have 2 or 3 flushs and that the 3rd is usualy pretty weak.
We will see what will happen I guess....

Well, I ate 2.5 grams dry yesterday and had the strongest trip I have ever had. It was a lot of fun.
Some second flush mushrooms are growing now. Hopefully I will get a decent second flush. I think I will end my log with this post. I have started 10 more jars and have learned a lot from this grow.
