Quebec Official Hunting Thread

Hi,

I don't think the forum have a Quebec Hunting Thread, so I make this one. I know there isn't a lot of member from Quebec but I post this thread anyway.

The Quebec have one specie official cubes : P. Quebecensis.

Does someone ever find one ?

Can someone post their finds ?

Psilocybe cubensis is a species, there are no species within the species Ps. cubensis. Perhaps you mean "strain"? I have never heard of "P. Quebecensis".

So cat, with shrooms, there is no official subspecifics? Its just strains and no subspecies? You can close this coz im just talking about something completely different here. Maybe I should have said this somewhere else.

Psilocybe quebecensis shows up in the search here and on other myco sites and Erowid too.

It also shows up in a few french papers I have found and some, though not a lot of scientific research has been done on our very own shroom.

A new North American species of Psilocybe hallucinogen: Psilocybe quebecensis G. Ola'h and R. Heim C R Acad Sci Hebd Seances Acad Sci D. 1967 Mar 20;264(12):1601-4.

Seems a little strange that there are no official articles on the species. Perhaps you guys could initiate some kind of scientific enquiry into the subject?

The only ones who can do anything about are the ones in quebec. Go find shrooms and post em here. If we find a unique species, (which has occured quite a few times) we will let you know on your findings and you can get connected to send samples to some of the scientists here. Im sure if someone actually brought something to light, It would become an inquiry.

So far though, I've heard of it, never seen a picture.

And to answer some of those simple questions, There are literally hundreds of different species of magic mushrooms. Psilocybe cubensis is one of the easiest to grow and most common species of magic mushies known to man. Sadly, its potency and effects arent as great as other wild or rarer species. do some simple research and you wont have to wait for us to tell you everything.

Several years ago I was sent a supposed spore print of Psilocybe quebecensis. I tried growing it on wood for a couple of years with nearly complete failure. Finally I got a couple of mushrooms but they don't look like P. quebecensis. The spores are fairly brown and the mushroom looks more like P. semilanceata although somewhat different. It does stain blue. I am now changing tactics and treating it like P. semilanceata and hope to get some better pictures this fall.

Abstract This work describes the ultrastructural characters ofPsilocybe quebecensis Ola'h &Heim, an hallucinogenic species, the so far known most northernGeophila exhibiting psychodysleptic action.
Samplings have been selected on three different parts of the carpophore. Tissues obtained from the gills, central part of the stipe and hyphae below the fruit body of freshly collected carpophores.
An accumulation of reserve polysaccharides has been localized in the hyphas of the sub-hymenium and in the mycelium around the stem. We give evidence that two types of pore septum characterise this species. The succession of the sporal tegument of dormant basidiospores and other ultrastructural characters are considered.

Résumé Le présent travail précise les caractères ultrastructuraux dePsilocybe quebecensis Ola'h &Heim.
A cette fin, les prélèvements ont été faits sur des carpophores sauvages fraîchement récoltés. Trois zones de prélèvement ont été désignées sur le carpophore: lame, partie centrale du pied et hyphe aérien coiffant la base du pied. Ce champignon est une espèce hallucinogène, la plus septentrionale desGeophila Quél., la sectionCaerulescentes Sing., posédant une action psychodysleptique évidente. Nous mettons en évidence la localisation des substances de réserve polysaccharidiques dans les hyphes sous-hyméniales et dans le mycélium entourant le pied, ainsi que les deux types depore septum, la succession du tégument sporal ofdormant basidiospore et autres caractères ultrastructuraux.

I have not seen them but i have heard of them, I also have pictures somewhere i'll post wgen i find them. Also finding any will probubly be hard b/c i read there has not been a report of that mushroom being found since it was studied by Ola'h, Gyorgy Miklos & Heim, R. from 1967 when it was discoved/identified untill the mid 80's when their last report was written on them.

I'm in "Land's End" Quebec and have yet to locate an active mushroom.  Found a little over 10 different fungi, but no psychoactive types.

This is a bit of an old post, but it's nice to see Anglo Quebec folks on here.

Hi guys,

I live here in quebec too. Speak both english and french and am very interested in joining and learning how to hunt with someone with experience cuz I don't want to be poisoned1
I've been trying for years to find some psilos(including thru dealers)and only finally found some that were 3 years old. I tried them, since I had no other choice and all I got was huge stomach ache and no "effects".
That's the govt for you -they would rather you risk dying than making these available (but controlled of course like alcohol)!

Anyways pls let me know if I could get involved somehow PLEASE???

This is not the right forum for finding hunting partners, though if you search you can find good information on how to hunt. However, if you find any mushrooms, we will be happy to help you figure out what they are. The sample ID request shows what type of information you should collect on each mushroom to help identify it.

Thanks guys but i don't care if I spend the next year studying even with your help (no offence)  I still would not trust myself eating anything without experienced in-person help!

Maybe I go the homegrown route!
