My grow bag isn't fruiting. Help?
    #7247668 -

I've had it in indirect sunlight for about almost 2.5 weeks now and nothing. Is there something else I can do?

describe the conditions that its under. is it humid, with fresh air exchange, and all of that? try using just a normal light, they dont need sunlight or UV.

your not gonna get as much help as possible unless you list all of the conditions its fruiting under/what strain or species you are growing.

first off, is the bag fully colonized? did you cut holes in the mycobag for the mushrooms to pop out of? list as much as you can about your grow

Yes, the bag is fully colonized, I didn't cut holes in the bag though, I didn't know??

I'm growing B+. It is humid, I will try it in a normal light, thanks.

As for the cuts in the bag, where should I put them?

anywhere really. some people even prefer just to open the bag at the top and let them grow vertically. but they wont fruit very well if the bag is still sealed due to FAE, and lack of room to grow (unless somehow you managed to get a lot of air inside the bag)

but look up some pictures of people growing oysters and you should get some ideas of what to do with the bag. you can even take all of the substrate out and case it if you want to. its all preference really. lemme see if i cant find any pictures of oysters fruiting to give you an idea of what to do.

Edit: but explain your setup in as much detail as possible. what kind of environment are you keeping your mycobag in? is it outdoor, indoor? what humidification technique are you using? etc... just any info you can dispense on your technique would help immensely.

here we go...

http://www.mycomasters.com/GoldenTrumpet.jpg

http://greenlivingnow.com/images/Pearl-Oyster-Kit-1.jpg

hope that helps. a lot of people just cut X's into the bag because its easier, and the mushrooms will just push it open anyway, so theres no real point to cutting out an entire hole. i cant seem to find pictures of it being done right now, but ill keep searching.

squeeze all of the air out of the bag, then lift it from the top of the bag, to make it suck in fresh air.

#1 and most important trigger is fresh air exchange. Light just tells it what direction, and high humidity is a given.

your bag should have a filter patch...

I really wouldn't cut holes in your bag, unless you don't have a filterpatch bag..

you need to use those in the future instead of trying to invitro in a spawn bag, which normally doesn't have a filter patch.

i thought you were talking about the mycobags without filterpatches for some reason. that what im used to seeing with oysters, and my mind kind of got stuck with that concept, my bad.

do what jeetered is telling you if your bag indeed does have a filter patch. its a lot better for making contams not a problem, and it keeps the enviroment warm and humid. if you already cut holes in your mycobag, sorry for that.

he's growing ps.cubensis B+ strain.

complete diff species.. lol

shit happens though.. some people want instant answers and act on them, i hope he decided to wait for a few more peoples input before acting... and possibly letting us know, does he have filterpatches on his mycobag? or is it a non patched spawn bag?

the suspense of it all~!!!

j/k..

heh

i know i know, but whenever i think of spawnbags i think of oysters, and whenever i think of oysters i think of spawnbags and i just sort of kept my mind on the concept of the non-filter-patch bag for some reason. it was an endless circle of oysters/filterless bags. ive been very tired lately. i guess i worded that last post pretty badly, cause i tried to communicate that. oh well. all i'm hoping now is that robotic_touch didnt take my advice, unless its a bag without a filter patch.

edit: i think its a she

edit again: AHA! this might have saved him/her is he/she made a hasty decision! i said "but they wont fruit very well if the bag is still sealed due to FAE, and lack of room to grow (unless somehow you managed to get a lot of air inside the bag)"

hopefully he/she read that.

Hey again. I made some slits in the bag to get air before I saw the rest of these posts. Still nothing, though..
Oh and I do have a filter-patched bag...

And I am a she. lol....

I've done bags and jars before with positive results, but that was years ago, don't know what my problem is this time around!
