The computers at Netflix recommended that I might like it.
If it sucks, I'd like to contract one of you to build me an EMP bomb and deliver it to their main database center.

Which Dune? There's a couple of versions. Get the long one, and lay in a good supply of spice before you start. If you haven't read the book, you may need to see the movie twice to really figure out what the fuck is going on. Or maybe not.

True.
But without letting out too big of a spoiler- does anybody see a parallel between Dune, and our current situation in a certain desert?

"In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life, the spice expands consciousness, the spice is vital to space travel."
The EMP bomb would be a little hard...at least fitting it in something you can carry

meh, put the thing in a van.
If popular mechanics' article was correct, all you need is a bunch of car batteries, some plastic explosives, a bunch of capacitors, and a big copper coil.

And the Fremen? Our saurdukar might be the very best army on the planet- except we aren't prepared for how the Fremen want to fight us.

It's painfully easy to construct a simple EMP bomb...getting a sharp enough peak in electrical discharge is harder.

Wow, good flick! I haven't seen Dune is years, I remeber seeing it at the movie theater the first time. But the Hunt for Red October, was way trippy on DXM at the movie theater..

Yes, I think I remember the show, somewhat...it has been literally many years since I seen it, even on cable TV.

I'm surprised, I sort of liked it. It was rambly and was obviously an attempt to fit a fuckton of info into a crowded 2.5 hour slot, but it worked out to be intriguing.
I had no insight into the intricacies of wtf was going on... but it was fun watching it all happen.
Oh... and Patrick Stewart for the fucking win.

that's pretty much how that movie geos, you really don't know what's going on till you watch it a half dozen times or read the book.
it doesn't help that half the important information to carry the plot is internal dialogue that's whispered very quietly, so if your volume is low you don't even realize anything's being said at all
