Nationwide Water Shortage!

Their is a national water shortage, due to unconservative water prevention, treatment, and pollution. I challenge many of you to drink fresh water from your streams. It hit me so hard today, as I walked through a fresh stream I was able to drink from and enjoy, "even from downhill". So if you all could come out and admit that your local streams are polluted, and the water treatment plants need to become either "highly" advanced, or we invent some kind of "highly" advanced portable water treatment facility, our laws are going to have to become "socialistic" in their scrictness towards pollution, more then federal fines or EPA inspection teams, their is going to have to be an emegency oriented environmental conscience president. Which the republican, democrat parties cannot meet. We might need to have import one.

Nugs, you are truly an idiot. Even if the stream was not "polluted" in the sense you mean, didn't you ever hear of Giardia? Only a complete ass (Or someone quite literally dieing of thirst) would drink from a stream. You could use purification tablets or something like a Katydin Pocket Filter to drink stream water, but NEVER drink directly from the stream. You could wind up quite sick.
I pasted the following in for you.
Every year many people return from camping trips to find that they are suffering from giardiasis, but the source of these infections remains uncertain. Some authorities believe that Giardia infects a number animals other than humans, particularly beavers, and that campers contract giardiasis from drinking stream water contaminated with cysts from beavers (hence, "beaver fever"). Other authorities, however, believe that these cases result from streams contaminated with human feces. Although mountain streams may appear to be "sparkling clean," some camper upstream may be using your drinking water as a toilet! Thus, no matter what it looks like, stream water should be treated before drinking. Boiling will kill Giardia cysts, and there are commercially available filters that will remove the cysts from water.

Thanks, but I feel I am pretty educated about water. My friend works for the Water Conservation Agency. This was a stream running directly from the top of a mountain. No peoples camp there, that could be stupid enough to destroy this rare source of fresh water. I say that because the forest is basically a farm. On a short walk. I got wild ginger to wash my hair. Picked enough lillikoi to be full. Walked past many strawberry guava, rose apple, hala, ti, papaya, chinese bannana, and got a small sniff of herb downwind. I have never had the respect of land before to drink stream water. The fact is , is that this one of the very very few streams left that does;nt have sewage running into it. Most streams can handle a small amt of "community" sewage. But their was none here. The fact is is that someone obviously respects this land more then the people on the other side of the island. Who decided to build multi million dollar houses, and mega shopping complexes, over the only other stream I have seen. Quite sad. It seems that no politician who runs here, has the power or heart to say no to money. The forest on the other side of this mountain, is owned by Mormans.

The point of this survey, is for those who don't think that a strong environment policy is smart. Even if all the valleys of this stream were converted into farmland. It could not kill the import, export ratio that kills hawaii's economy. How far would you have to walk, to experiment drinking stream water? You probraly even could not walk. I doubt boiling could remove all the impurites I have seen in streams in Maryland. Even on this side of the island I can taste the difference in tap water. The point is that expensive filtering devices are not needed! Only strong environmental policy.

There's not much better in life than drinking water out of a mountain stream. The water I had growing up tasted just like a mountain stream if you drank it from a tin cup.
