FAITH IS THE FUNNIEST FUCKING THING IN THE WORLD!! Its like you get bonus points for being an ignorant fuck that doesnt need proof for belief. Seriously, religion rewards you for making yourself stupid.

For the record, there is a difference between faith and blind faith, to which you are referring. These are aspects of faith most take for granted, but can often be overlooked when one is trying to determine a source of unrest inside. (Or, in other words, these less-acknowledged aspects of faith are highly relevant to spirituality and should not be discounted.)

Faith in your own subconscious actions, for instance... or faith in the laws of physics.

Just some thoughts. Faith gets a bad rap from those who apply the concept mixed with ignorance and denial.

well you tell me where in religion it doesnt use "Blind faith" because thats what it is, and what i said still applies

*Sigh*

You seem just as close-minded as the Christians you so detest.

i never said i detested religion nor did i ever portray myself to be close minded

there is no proof on this material plane to support the existence of god, just as there is no proof to deny the existence of god. an agnostic would be perfectly faithless. being an atheist, you say in complete certainty, that there is no god. how can you say that, without having faith that there isnt a god?

No, i can agree that there is a chance that a god exists. There is no denying that. But what defines an atheist is the fact that we realize that the probability of a god existing is almost null because it defy's evolution and the way we have come to understanding this universe.

it doesnt defy evolution...it only defies evolution if you take the bible literally. so if you can agree that there's a chance that god exists, then you don't have complete faith in atheism.

you'd be irrational to believe 100% that god cant exist, and you'd be irrational to believe 100% that god does exist. it's both faith, just on the opposite side of the spectrum.

so it seems we basically agree except for the fact that you have a need to believe something else is out there that exists as a god. This very well may be true but of what relavence does it have? Does he come and kick it with us, does he impact our daily lives, does he do anything at all that is of relavance to us? Sure, some superpower might exist in the world but who cares, he's busy doing his thing and we are busy doing ours, should our paths ever cross we will deal with it then but until that time comes, who gives a fuck? really.

Some athiests would claim the faith to be "having pure and unweilding faith in yourself, and not needing to rely on a god to support you and your burdens."
But that's just a thought...

I'm agnostic though... I don't know what to believe, but I do wonder if maybe there is something out there...

that is a very good philosophy and a good place to put faith. Alot of competitive atheletes do this as well. Good luck with the agnosticism, IMO you are just an atheist that is fearful of taking that leap. Wondering if something is out there does not constitute believing something is out there.

i don't have a need to believe anything is out there and exists as god, it's just something that i know. i believe god is everything. god is in each of us. our egos are just what make us forget that. society has corrupted us, but without society, we wouldn't be what we are. so i guess you could say it's a necessary evil. every time you see another person, animal, plant, cell, whatever it is, you're just looking at a reflection of yourself.

this is something that i now know, and that i have come to realize. ask me how i know it, and i can't explain it, i just know it. it's just as irrational as your belief that there is no god.

every religion in the world is correct. the only problem with religion is that religion is a human invention. there's corruption in it. religion comes from spirituality. spirituality is true, it's not man made, and it can't be corrupt. i guess you could say religion is man's interpretation of spirituality.

does god do anything that is of relevance to us? yes, god does. god is consciousness. without god, nothing would exist. god is life.

so, does the fact that i believe this and you don't have any benefit to me? no, not really. i just realize that we are all one. it just gives me the foundation of how to live my life. i see the pointlessness of screwing each other over.

The fact that you know something without any evidence kind of discredits most of what you say. It means you arnt a rational, logic based person. Also, your interpretation is lacking any justification, your basing all your thoughts on assumptions, glhf.

i'm rational and logic based in things that it can be applied to.

my beliefs have developed over time(and still are developing) from these things, in no particular order: living life, being a psychology major in college, taking world religion classes, psychedelics, meditation, reading about philosophies and religions, and going to a catholic high school. and probably much more. these are just the obvious parts of my life that have contributed to my beliefs. take it as you will.
