son of a bitch I hate my laptop, third damn time I've tried writing this and i fat-finger nav'd off the page losing all the text.
--- Look on the farm+garden section of craigslist.org for stable owners and call them up and ask them if you can gather manure from their fields. Mucked stalls manure is no good for us because many of the wood shavings used (cedar, etc.) have natural fungicides in them.
If they ask about why you can use mucked stalls manure (the type they usually have to pay to get rid of) tell them that you're trying to do organic only composting and you're a little unsure about the woodchips.
Even if they say no, ask them if they know anyone they might be able to refer you to. I've never had to make more than one or two calls.
I will say though, make sure you're not horse-shy before you go out in the fields though. If the horses get curious and you get intimidated by being surrounded by horses you could end up getting stomped.

Don't mistake my tone for a "matter-of-fact" attitude. I'm just presenting what I believe to be correct, until I'm corrected...
